After nearly a decade the Man Of Steel returns to the big screen. I personally can't wait. Next to Batman, Superman is my top fave superhero. Hell, he's the first superhero ever!

 Re: Superman Returns
Just an FYI, from a collector.
Clark Kent comes from the combined names of
Clark Gable and Kent Taylor. Stars from the early era of the silverscreen.
Not that I nit-pick or anything like that.... Just thought you would like to know.
I do like the picture, I do agree about the belt though, that is kind of a
"Hillbilly Style" accessory

I also look forward to the film. I'm not sure I like the idea of Lois having a child (who's the daddy?) but time will tell. Kevin Spacey may eat Hackman's Luthor for lunch.

I don't like the "S" belt buckle, don't see a need to change this, the big S on the chest is enough for me.

Don't forget Doc Savage.... debuted as a pulp character in 1933, ran until 1949. Clark Kent owes his first name to Doc Savage (a/k/a Clark Savage, Jr.). Doc also had a "fortress of solitude" in the arctic where he went to study, experiment, and stored weapons too terrible for the rest of the world to get hold of. Sound familiar?

Nice drawing by the way!

 Re: Superman Returns
Ahh true... CK true true... But...

Flash Gordon was a comic strip originally drawn by Alex Raymond, first published on January 7, 1934. It was created to compete with Buck Rogers. Buck Rogers began in 1928.

The Phantom was first published in 1936.

Then there's also "The Shadow" best known for it's radio serials in 1939.

HEHEHHE Makes you think huh. So which hero is older than Buck Rogers then? I don't know... But if I had to choose any it would have to be some sort of ancient Greek mythology like Hercules perhaps. Or maybe even Ra from Egyptian history.

And while I'm being a dork also, here's some information that I found interesting.

Today the earliest known comic book is called The Adventures of Obadiah Oldbuck. Originally published in several languages in Europe in 1837, among them an English version designed for Britain in 1941. A year later it was that version reprinted in New York on Sept. 14, 1842 for Americans, making it the first comic book printed in America. Odadiah Oldbuck is 40 pages long and measured 8 ?" x 11". The book was side stitched, and inside there were 6 to 12 panels per page. No word balloons, but there is text under the panels to describe the story. A copy of it was discovered in Oakland, California in 1998.

 Re: Superman Returns
Beautiful pic. But I wouldn't say Supes was the first super hero, we have to give credit to The Phantom and Flash Gordon. Supes would be the first Metahuman, but I'm just being a total dork now
