I've received a number of Emails asking me to do a more realistic version of myself as BANZAI GIRL.  That inspired me to think about what kind of whimsical self-portrait I could do.

I finally decided to do a drawing based on the classic Normal Rockwell self-portrait.  This is the first version, in line art.  It incorporates my normal comics style with a more realistic technique.

I hope you like it!

By the way:  A reminder that BOTH of my comics series, EXPOSURE and BANZAIGIRL, are continuing as free serialized adventures on Keenspot!  Stories are unfolding right now on banzaigirl.keenspot.com, and new EXPOSURE adventures will roll out later this month!

Hugs,

-- Jinky

pretty cool Jinky. What better way to do a self portrait than to have the cartoon version of yourself do a pretty decent painting of your true self.

And I too recognize and applaud the Rockwell tribute. Can't wait to see this in color.

It's interesting to note the slight differences you put into each face, too. Kind of a subtle transition from the you that resides here in this world to the comic universe "you."
Well done!

And I'm glad MsV noticed the "Norman Rockwell meets Jinky Coronado" styling as well. Whilst Mr. Rockwell is known for his super collection of realistic, often exhibited, sometimes exaggerated and subtly humorous paintings, Ms. Coronado here has her own collection of really super, often exhibitionist, obviously humorous art.
Thanks for sharing!
