EXCERPT:

“Okay, why is she not wearing a mask?” Heatstroke asked. “Isn’t she the least bit worried about bad guys finding out her secret identity?” the young heroine sat on the edge of a rooftop looking over the shoulder of Ravyne as the two studied internet footage on the brunettes smartphone.
“Apparently her civilian life is likely very low key.” Ravyne answered. “Most superheroes do lead normal, average lives. You can’t expect them to be celebrities under their masks.”
A sly smile formed on Heatstroke’s red, glossy lips. “Unlike a certain purple clad heroine who’s really famous romance novelist Cassandra L. Sullivan?”
“Shut up!” Ravyne hissed and gave her companion a death glare.
“Oh, lighten up, will ya, sis.” Heatstroke waved off. “Nobody’s up here to listen in except for that pigeon over there.” she then looked over at the bird in mock threat. “Better not squawk, or you’ll end up under glass.” She then snickered.
Ravyne shook her head in annoyance. What nobody was also aware of was that Heatstroke was, in fact Alexandra Sullivan, Cassandra Sullivan’s fraternal twin sister. Unlike Cassandra, who’s powers were super strength and nigh invulnerability Alexandra’s was the ability to generate intense heat and flames. She looked over at her sister, the two of them were so alike in appearance, the same height at five ten, same build, same baby-blue eyes, same measurements. Even in facial features they were alike. Heck, the only things keeping people from mistaking the two of them for identical twins were Alexandra’s red hair and the paler complexion that often came with it.
And on top of that was their difference in personality. Whereas Cassandra was reserved and introverted Alexandra was more outgoing and lively, had always been. She was the one who’d freaked out their family by climbing to the tops of trees and brought home snakes.
And, unlike Cassandra, who found the usual outfits worn by most superheroines a tad embarrassing Alexandra didn’t seem to mind it as hers was a little more stripperiffic than Cassandra’s halter-topped leotard, her twin’s consisting of cobalt blue short shorts, mid rift baring corset top and mask all with orange flame-patterned trim. And completing the ensemble were black opera gloves and thigh boots all with yellow flame trim. All of which were made of a special heat resistant material.
“Well, back to the matter at hand.” Heatstroke declared and the pair went back to studying the footage on Ravyne’s smartphone. On the screen they watched a jewelry store heist being foiled by the city’s newest heroine who went by the moniker Ms. Awesome. The mysterious woman was roughly the same height as they were with long, platinum blonde hair, blue eyes and centerfold level figure. (a common trait for superheroines it seemed) And her costume was mostly black with gold trim, thigh boots and sleeved leotard with a neck line plunging down almost to her naval showing off her large breasts. All accented with gold belt and bracelets. “I sure do hope she’s using lots of double sided tape otherwise she’s at a serious risk of popping out.”
Ravyne pursed her lips and side-glanced Heatstroke. “You’re one to talk Miss About-to-spill-out.”
Heatstroke let out a light hearted yelp and pulled up on her corset causing her forty four DD boobs to bunch up. “Hey, don’t knock it, cleavage can be a weapon, you know.”
Ravyne ruefully shook her head then turned her attention back to the screen to watch the enigmatic heroine flip the getaway car over. “What is she thinking, not wearing a mask? Doesn’t she realize that any enemies she makes might go after her family if her identity gets discovered?”
“And not to mention all the lawsuits that she could get hit with for any property damage she might accidentally cause.”
Ravyne nodded tersely in agreement. Secret identities were the only thing keeping superheroes from getting sued by angry civilians who’s property had been damaged or destroyed during operations. (And to make things worse insurance policies don’t cover acts of superhero) Recently a few heroes decided to combat this issue and had set up and donated to a trust to help compensate those people. Although the funds getting donated so far have been very little. Even so superheroes still needed to treat the city like it was made of cardboard and try their best not to cause any damage like that time Ravyne had that little… misunderstanding with Sparrowhawke.
Just then the phone started ringing. Checking the ID Ravyne’s lips curved upward upon seeing it was her boyfriend Max Montgomery and she eagerly answered. “Hey, Max.”
There was a pause while she listened. “Oh, just hanging out with my sister.” Another pause. “Oh, diner at Amaretti’s sounds great.”
She then had to pause when Heatstroke leaned in making kissy, kissy noises and a frustrated Ravyne nudged her sister back with her elbow. “I’ll see you later, Max, and hopefully nothing unforeseen happens. Love you.”
Upon hanging up Ravyne heard her sister snickering. “Oooh, a hot date with your FBI agent boyfriend! I hope it ends with the two of you getting some bow chica wow wow!” Heatstroke then gave a mock grimace. “Oh, wait, sorry, I forgot. You can’t go all the way because of your V-plates of steel.” She then snickered again.
“At least I don’t burst into flames every time I climax!” Ravyne retorted. She could tell that beneath the mask her sister’s cheeks had turned bright red at that jibe.
Heatstroke gritted her teeth and turned to stare awkwardly into the distance. “Oh, look!” she declared. “Isn’t that a missile flying toward the Hollywood sign? I’d better go shoot it down!” Ravyne watched as her twin hastily dropped off the edge of the building and, moment later rocketed up, leveled off and flew away in pursuit of the fictitious missile leaving a trail of fire in her wake.
“I love you to death, sis, but sometimes you can be really annoying.” Ravyne lamented.
