| Christina Aguilera is ... Spiral! matrixblur Marvel Comics 2006/12/27 22:33 7672 23
Edited: Added a background more suited to the character.
Spiral is one of my all-time favorite characters. Before joining Heromorph, I never considered things like "casting" & "frankensteining" when doing photomanips. Silly I guess, since the great part of this medium is that there are no rules. So when it came to doing Spiral, it occured to me Christina Aguilera would be perfect, even if I could not find a picture of her in the perfect pose. |

Yeah, that's what I'm callin this If I didn't post it, I was never gonna. (Yogi Beraism) Well, here is "The Magdelena" Don't know who the model is, sorry. In fact, her body was made up of 6 different bases, I think. Some of the armour was made in 3d, and the costume in Photoshop.
I'm gonna go take a nap now...... |

| The Enchantress matrixblur Marvel Comics 2004/7/11 0:43 7523 16
Enchanting! Have to say that the headpieces on my last few manips have given me problems, but by the time I get to them, I've lost patience and am anxious to get to the next project. Maybe I should start with them first. Interesting sidenote: Each time I try metalics, I do it a different way, and each time I'm relatively pleased with the results. Further proof that there is no one way to pull off a manip, but experimentation is key. (still too chicken to attempt a hero with a cape, but soon...) |

| Wonder Woman matrixblur DC Comics 2004/7/11 0:46 6962 12
An edgier, sexier WW for the times. Always said I would never do a Wonder Woman manip; there are too many out there already, but I came across this costume and thought it should be represented. I frankensteined this one quite a bit, because I already had the exact pose I wanted in mind. What took the longest time to do, was to find the perfect face and hair. Took me a couple days to find the right celeb face. Can you tell who it is? |

Saw Janet's new costume and thought it was pretty cool. Simple yet striking. Now I know from history, that as I write this, she probably has gone through 3 more costume changes, but I hope she keeps this one in her closet. |

| Chyna + Cyblade = Chyblade! matrixblur Other Comics 2004/7/11 0:33 5483 17
From Cyberforce (thanks WH). At first, I couldnt get the metalic look right, but some encouragement and advise from fellow heromorph artists (WH and Brick), I kept at it and got what I think is one of my best manips. In fact, I like her pose so much, that I'm going to use her in my first ever fight scene. maybe with Zealot, if I can find a suitable model. One with a full backside view. If anyone has one, I'd love to see it. |

this is my latest as of 2/28/04. tried to do her cape, but haven't mastered material folds yet. her metal accents came out nice, though. I like doing the more obscure heroines, but finding pics is difficult. |

| "EX"-FACTOR. c2f-hm Crossover by Kevincal & matrixblur matrixblur Marvel Comics 2004/10/18 1:46 5053 13
Much recognition must go to my co-creator as he did most of the work. It was Kevincal's idea to use a duel similarity with the characters' and the models' relationships, to represent our take on the competition's theme. I jumped at the chance to do Polaris, she was a lot of fun. Then I saw his Havok and was blown away. I learned a lot from this exercise; it was quite advantagous to be able to bounce ideas back and forth. Kevs a great artist and a lot of fun to work with. Sign us up for the next one!
Kevincal wrote: Working with matrixblur was awesome cause he had lots of great ideas and he is freakin' amazing on armor - can you imagine a matrixblur Ironman (or Ironmaiden?) Anyways, we bounced around a bunch of ideas and finally settled on Tom and Nicole as Havok and Polaris. We did some homework and came back with our favorite costumes for both characters. Since they were from different eras, we decided to explain away the difference by pointing out the ghosts of past relationships still haunt Havok to this day. That, or the fact that Polaris is nuttier than a squirrel orgy in April and forgot which costume to put on :D
Re: Havok, I picked this version of the costume because I liked the way the energy effects looked and thought it'd be fun to try and duplicate. Building the visor, chest disc, and armor probably took the longest but then what proved to be equally challenging was making the hands look interesting since they were just dark shapes upon a dark shape. I settled on two-tone gloves that I ended up really liking in the end. |

| Namorita matrixblur Marvel Comics 2004/7/11 0:40 5027 12
While searching base models for a project, I came across this pic, and thought it would make a good Namorita. It had a perfect background and the netting already wrapped around her. I thought this would make things simpler. I was wrong. Easier to just mask out the nude figure and go from there. Instead I spent most of my time trying to pull her body out from all those little holes in the net! AAAUUUGGH! (Also felt it was time to switch my old "ETD" logo for my new "Matrixblur Bolt")

I just want to thank BA for his advice and tutorial about creases and wrinkles. This is my first manip trying those techniques. I still have to practice it a bit, but it is clear to see how they make all the difference in putting the finishing touches on a manip. Now on to learning capes! |

Seems Heromorph went trick-or-treating in an unfriendly neighborhood.
The big red guy is Daredevil from Universe "X" (who later turned out to be Mephisto), and for those of you new to Heromorph, in the back from right to left are members: Winterhawk, Bikerbot, Billy and JRMcDeath. The dashing facade to the left of DD, is me, playing the role of Jude, the entropic man. oh yeah, and Heromorphs favorite angry bunny, Furiousmax. |

wanted to try a more stylized effect for a change. took a manip I did of zealot and put her into a Bryce scene and added a .3ds dragon. Brought the compiled pic into Photoshop and played with color. Lots of color. I airbrushed the lava drool in photoshop. using levels and saturation, I got a look thats a bit more "painted" than photorealistic. could've spent more time on the finishing details, but I liked the colors, so I stopped. |

| Eva, upgraded matrixblur Marvel Comics 2004/10/18 1:17 4077 8
whew, where to start. I worked on this, a little bit at a time for about 2 months. I wanted to try an integrated background, as most of the manips I do are of the "pin-up" variety. The only problem with pacing a project over a prolonged period, (say that ten times) is you tend to forget the steps you took for some of your effects. I think there might be 2 or 3 filters that I did not use on the background feature. I can say, that because of the intermittent pace, I decided to create all the "veins" using a simplified technique, that would be easy to assimilate each time. I picked a midtone periwinkle-like color, with a narrow brush and assigned a 2 pixel inner-bevel layer style. I drew the veins in and used the smudge tool to blend the ends. I have to say this project was a lot of fun, and time permitting, I'd like to do more manips with articulated backgrounds. |
