| WHEN CLASSIC COMIC COVERS COLLIDE... pijon DC Comics 2010/8/5 20:05 2493 8
After noticing a certain similar theme between the covers of Batman's 1st appearance in Detective Comics 27 and Spidey's 1st appearance in Amazing Fantasy 15, a strange idea came to mind... |

| Three Wizards pijon Other Comics 2013/8/22 7:52 1886 4
First, all due apologies to B. This was supposed to be a collaboration but I got too carried away with my end. Something slightly different for me... trying to turn 3 of my favorite "British Invasion" comic writers into magical heroes... based on Neil Gaimen, Alan Moore and Grant Morrison.
*update: fixed Grant Morrison's flashlight nostrils. |

| The Trick pijon DC Comics 2009/7/7 4:51 3115 5
When Supergirl agreed to help out her friend with her magic act, there was no mention of a kryptonite saw! Nothing special, just a small tribute to those wacky silver age stories. |
|
| The Spirit pijon Other Comics 2009/2/24 22:22 2577 6
File this under "Why I like the merged galleries better" dept: This way I don't have to think to hard about where to place a bastard child of 2D and 3D like this one! Anyway, background's pure 3D built in Bryce and the characters are first drawn in 2D then converted to 3D in Bryce and Daz. A tribute to Will Eisner... he was the man! and Spirit was one of the best comics ever. |

| The Question pijon DC Comics 2013/11/3 21:57 2358 10
Spiderman creator Steve Ditko created this gritty hard boiled character back in 67 for Charlton. The character is notable for being considered one of the darkest and most grim of the silver age. The character was later acquired by DC comics where he's managed to show up perennially in a number of places. There was a lengthy run by Denny O'Neil and Dennis Cowans, he's appeared JL and other cartoons too. This character was also the basis for Rorschach from the book and movie "The Watchmen" |

Thanks DD, Hiss & Haz for your comments and suggestions in HFC. Haz: Upping the bump definitely helped; gracias for that advice! Hisstoryman: Although it's subtle, I decided to include the skeleton as you suggested (it's underwater in the lower left), thank you too! Oh yeah... thanks ODS for the dynamic long cape used on Bats. M3 Bats, F3 Killer Croc.

| Superman: Footnotes in Crime pijon DC Comics 2010/4/17 21:03 2410 6
Footnotes in Crime: Doug (the Thug) Williams was an ambitious career criminal. He had henched for all the top supervillains like Lex Luthor and the Joker but was determined to make more of himself. Williams always invested his share of the take in steroids and his "supersuit fund" while managing to stay out of jail by ratting out his co-workers. Finally, he saved enough to purchase the supersuit and weapons, deeming himself Heavy Artillery. Determined to make a name for himself among the major supervillains, Heavy A (as his peeps now called him) set out to knock off the largest bank he could find.Unfortunately he had never bothered learning geography and map reading skills and had the misfortune of picking a bank in Metropolis. It has been speculated that Heavy Artillery might have had a somewhat successful career in Supervillainy if only he'd picked his target area more carefully. |

| Superman's Big Brother pijon DC Comics 2011/1/4 17:25 2688 9
Something about Daz's Space Dweller for M4 that made me think it would make a good suit for Mon-el. Also a nod to Daswook and Cattle, both of whom often beat me to doing offbeat character choices for images and had done so again with Mon-el. |

| Stalker Too pijon DC Comics 2010/12/18 5:23 2428 2
After my last run at this Ditko & Wood character, a friend nudged me into doing a 2nd. I'm glad he did. |
|
| Stalker pijon DC Comics 2010/12/11 21:52 2222 3
Yup... I thought I was done doing Ditko tributes myself but when my creative well's run dry again, I turn to the great master for inspiration. A lot of folks probably missed this one... it only ran 4 issues, Paul Levitz writing was pretty sharp on this tale of a man who trades his soul to a demon lord in exchange for ultimate combat skills so that he can get revenge on the baroness who enslaved him as a child but feels cheated when he extracts no joy from his vengeful triumphs and decides to battle his way down through the underworld to get his soul back. Pencils were by Steve Ditko and inks by Wally Wood, each geniuses in their own right and complimented each other here in a way that made them even better! |

| Solomon Grundy (2.0) pijon DC Comics 2012/1/29 18:46 3336 7
Decided to see if I couldn't dust off this old piece of mine and see if I couldn't make it look a little better. Same models (M3's), scene, lights, props, textures, etc.. The only thing I changed in the render file was the direction and color of GL's eyes. However, I did tweak a couple of render settings and play around in Photoshop a bit.

| Smackdown Intro: Bat-Mite pijon Smackdown 2017/6/12 16:56 2065 7
Bat-Mite says his long goodbyes to his adopted family. Adopted by him, that is.... in spite of their numerous well expressed objections. They are all left slightly agitated and confused, which is generally the case when Bat-Mite visits. Wow, Bat-Mite got his own Heromorph Smackdown invitation! Bat-Mite knows he can't be late for such a very important date! It seems some of the guests were already arriving and in grand style too!
"Sometimes you just get lucky," Batman thought, "Good timing." Changing the name on the invitation was child's play and convincing Bat-Mite the invitation was his and getting him to accept went effortlessly. He was somebody else's pint-sized problem now.
