| Virago Gnostic85 Original Characters 2007/4/2 22:39 2245 1
Connected to the Negative, the web that connects all human suffering, Syd Lennox had a miserable life until one fateful night when she was granted the ability to see and touch the suffering. The Negative, it turns out, is an untapped wellspring of energy, and she now siphons that energy to become Virago, a vigilante dedicated to stopping corruption and terrorism and anything else that feeds the Negative. Of course, it remains unseen what destroying this web will ultimately do to the natural order, but at the moment that is not Virago's main concern...
-
Virago is basically the character previously known as Dire, albeit with more mystical origins and powers. "Virago" is defined in my dictionary as a either a loud and overbearing woman or a strong and brave one, so I thought it kinda fits. There's a little of both definitions in this particular Virago - on the one hand, she's protecting people and doing other good works, but on the other end, her powers are fueled by human suffering... |

| Virago: Blood Vision Gnostic85 Original Characters 2007/4/9 14:53 2047 1
Another pic of my character Virago, this one demonstrating one of her unique abilities: "Blood Vision". With this power, she is able to see how a violent crime happened. It's a bit limited - it takes a lot of effort to use and at her current skill level, it doesn't show her the culprit. But it can reveal other things. In this case, for instance - a rape/murder - it has shown her that there was another woman present, suggesting an accomplice...
(Should I have posted this in the Member's Gallery?) |

| Lord-General Romata (second take) Gnostic85 Original Characters 2007/6/1 21:19 1865 1
I wasn't satisfied with how my original render of the Lord-General came out, so I did a new one. My main priority was making him look big and menacing, because he's only a few steps away from being a military dictator. However, at the same time, he's obviously old and tired. |

| Prince Fryderyk Gnostic85 Fantasy 2007/6/13 22:12 1914 1
"Didja hear there's a natural order? Those most deserving end up with the most. The cream cannot help but rise up to the top. But I say, $#!^ floats.
If you thought things had changed, Friend, youd better look again. Simply put, in the fewest of words, C**ts are still running the world. C**ts are still running the world..."
- Jarvis Cocker, Running the World
Prince Fryderyk Andorov
The son of King Aleksander and Crown Prince of the Trove, Prince Fryderyk believes in the supremacy of the Trove over all other nations on the continent, and perhaps even over all other nations, period. He envisions a complete refutation of the idea of non-monarchial states that has become popular in Elis, and sees this movement as something that endagers his family's status.
Though not yet in power, he has turned his beliefs into an ideology around which he intends to unite the entirety of the Trove. Whereas his dad has ruled with some semblance of tact, avoiding war when possible, Fryderyk welcomes the opportunity to get his hands dirty. He is ruthless, cunning, and, worst of all, completely self-assured.
The worst part is that his power is growing. He is attracting followers, and one of them may include the Lord-General's own daughter, Paryan... |

| Paryan Gnostic85 Original Characters 2007/6/25 19:26 1979 0
"See your face every place that I walk in, Hear your voice every time that I'm talking, You will believe in me, And I will never be ignored..." - Garbage, #1 Crush
Paryan Romata
Daughter of the Lord-General, Paryan seems to have something on her mind lately. She's never had the best self-esteem, you see, but it was figured that the news that she had a boyfriend was a sign that she was finally blossoming. Of course, now people are starting to find out who the boyfriend is, and they're starting to worry again... |

| The Hurim Gnostic85 Fantasy 2007/6/25 23:02 2077 0
The Hurim
Neither angels nor ghosts nor demons, the Hurim are mysterious beings who are connected with life and death, though exactly how they are connected depends on who you ask. The Trovilans, for instance, once believed that they were sent by the gods to take those who had died valiantly in battle to heaven. The Kersors, meanwhile, believe that the Hurim are responsible for finding those who died after being lost in the woods and making sure that they reach the afterlife. The Elitians maintain that Hurim open portals directly to the afterlife (as opposed to guiding souls there,) while the Kaysun view them as benevolent jailors to the damned. The Idrasians ascribe to the Hurim the ability to heal the desperately ill or injured. And then the Witches claim that they become Hurim when they die. However, though their supposed purpose varies from culture to culture, the description is usually consistent: Owl-like creatures, bigger than whales, with luminous flesh, long necks and horns, though they are capable of taking a humanoid shape (as shown in the picture.) |

| Alistair's Last Stand Gnostic85 Original Characters 2007/6/28 13:59 1887 0
17 Years Earlier
"You have reached the Alistairs. We're not home right now, obviously. Please leave a message after the beep."
*beep*
"Alistair? It's Foxman. Please for the love of god pick up. It's been a bad night already, and it's about to get worse. We were still driving Lady Romata to the hospital when the word came in. Klein and his whole family have been killed, and we just got a call from Finn. His family barely escaped a similar fate. It's the KEB, obviously. The bombing was just a distraction. Alistair, they're already on their way. I know you would probably prefer to take your chances and fight it out, but I'm begging you, please just grab Stephanie and Jona and head over to the safe house immediately... Oh god, I hope this reaches you in time..." |

| Dr. Reinigend Gnostic85 Original Characters 2007/7/10 21:35 2045 2
Need to exorcise a demon or monster from another dimension? Well, there's God only knows how many experts you could go to - Dr. Strange, Dr. Fate, Dr. Occult, etc. But if you need to eliminate a large army of demons in a short amount of time, you might need a specialist. And that's where Dr. Reinigend comes in. A former Nazi scientist who spent the bulk of WWII figuring out genocidal applications for magic, the doctor is the ultimate authority on exterminating hordes of demons, and now works for a black ops unit code-named Merkwurdigscheiss, which deals with . He approaches exorcism the way that the Nazis approached the extermination of their victims: efficiency over ethics. He sees nothing wrong with using spells that wipe out whole neighborhoods if it eliminates a few elusive demons. Thank god he's on our side... right?
(Just a weird idea that came into my head. A completely evil bastard who might be needed in an emergency...) |

| Find Him Gnostic85 Original Characters 2007/7/16 22:34 1714 0
Continued from "The Hospitalization 2"...
"... Grr... Laban!" "Yes, boss?" "Abdal is now Missing In Action, apparently passed out in a hospital phone booth. Find him. Now." "Yes, boss."
*cell phone rings*
"Hello? Abdal?" "You bastard..." "Ahh, Daran..." |

| Romata vs. Andarov Gnostic85 Original Characters 2007/7/23 22:17 1826 1
I love a good swordfight. And thus was this pic born, featuring two of the major characters from my book, Prince Fryderyk Andarov and Lord-General Atreus Romata, in a fight to the death. Whether this actually appears in my book or not, I've not yet decided. From a visual standpoint, it looks cool, and it's exactly the way the Lord-General would want to go down - taking as many pounds of flesh off his enemy as possible - but on the other hand it wouldn't make sense for an egotistical prince like Fryderyk to strip down to his skivvies, especially since, as one can see in the picture, he looks much less impressive without his soldier's uniform. |

| Superhero Smackdown 2 Round 1 - Ruse Gnostic85 Smackdown 2007/7/24 22:35 2607 5
Little is known about the background of the woman called Ruse. Hell, the name Ruse is just one of several that she's held. What is known is that she's very seductive, and just seems to enjoy seducing people. Often, she seduces them for money, but she's just as likely to seduce them just for the hell of it. God only knows what'll happen when she gets into the Smackdown... |

| Countdown to Smackdown: Ruse Gets the Call Gnostic85 Smackdown 2007/7/26 21:47 2647 3
Somewhere in China...
"<Damn it, I'll never get out of these stupid handcuffs...>"
*BOOM*
"<What the hell was that?!>"
"RUSE! You have been selected to appear on Smackdown!"
"... 'Kay. Could you help me out of these handcuffs?" |
|
| Countdown to Smackdown: Ruse's Interview Gnostic85 Smackdown 2007/7/26 22:17 2696 4
"Hiya, Ruse! Welcome to Smackdown!"
"Erm... Hi."
"So we're gonna ask you a couple questions. First question: Who the hell are you?"
"I'm Ruse. I don't really have any superpowers. I just kinda get tied up and dominated by people. Sexually dominated, I mean."
"... Seriously?"
"Yes. I mean, not every girl in a costume has impressive abilities. You figure there's gotta be a couple of super-submissives in the mix, right?"
"What the hell kinda schtick is that?
"Well, I also steal stuff and assassinate people... sometimes..."
"So does my housekeeper, but you don't see me interviewing her. I'm sorry, but you just plain suck."
"But I'm hot! And Asian! And I like sex with girls!"
"... Well, why didn't you say so in the first place?" |
|
| Smackdown Prelude - Breathe Deep While You Sleep Gnostic85 Smackdown 2007/7/27 21:32 2607 2
On her way to the pre-Smackdown reception, Ruse encounters the Blue Veil. Since Veil emits an incapacitating blue vapor, Ruse fell asleep shortly after, and this led to a minor misadventure to be depicted in the Members' Gallery... |

| Smackdown, Round 2: A Word in Your Ear Gnostic85 Smackdown 2007/8/5 23:58 2600 1
During the overnight, Ruse tries to make some friends...
"Listen, Batgirl. We're both non-metas in this contest, facing off against two self-proclaimed gods, two nearly-invincible girls and an egomaniacal B-leaguer, among other perils. I think our odds would be much better if we teamed up, don't you?"
"You missed the early flight 'cos you were too busy having sex with that Saudi woman. What exactly makes you a good ally? I could just as easily team up with the Beetle, and probably have a better chance."
"Well, so far as I can tell, the Beetle's major advantage is that he recruits young women with superpowers. I can start to remove that advantage. What do you say...?" |
|
| Smackdown: An Offer She Can't Refuse... Gnostic85 Smackdown 2007/8/12 22:16 2504 3
The Beetle makes a proposition towards Ruse...
"Hey there. Mindwave tells me you're a complete submissive. Well, I can help you get ahead, in exchange for some head..." |
|
| Smackdown: ... And She Refuses Anyway Gnostic85 Smackdown 2007/8/12 22:19 2189 4
"Just because I'm a slut doesn't mean I'm easy!"
"... Frigid bitch. No normal woman can resist the Black Beetle's inherent charisma... Just for that, I'm gonna get your name legally changed to 'the Whoriental'..." |
|
| Beetle's Revenge (1st Take) Gnostic85 Smackdown 2007/8/13 19:56 2126 3
Suzie Dibney takes out a hit on Ruse for her insult against Black Beetle. Mind you, it was only one hit, so not much damage was done... |

| Kiss & Tell Gnostic85 Smackdown 2007/8/16 19:20 2417 1
"So you spent all of last night having sex with Blue Veil, huh?"
"... How did you know...?"
"She smokes like a chimney and you smell like an ashtray. Plus, I detect a faint whiff of cynochlor, or whatever it's called..."
"You've met her then?"
"Teamed up with her and the Isralien-1 a few years ago in order to stop a super-powered psychopath who intended to bring peace to Israel by indiscriminately killing everyone."
"Israelien-2...?"
"The IDF's answer to Supergirl. Can't say much more - they want to keep her as a secret weapon in case Black Adam ever goes nuts again..." |
|
| Smackdown: Oh no, not me, we never lost control... Gnostic85 Smackdown 2007/8/21 12:54 2367 2
While on her way back to her hotel room, Ruse runs into a surprise...
"Ahh... Ruse, I presume?"
"Who are you, and why are you dressed like me?!"
"I'm the woman who's going to have you extradited back to China for the murder of Supergirl! Now out of my way - I have to leave before they discover you were framed! Ahahahahaha!"
"... Why does this shit always happen to me?" |
|
| Smackdown: Ruse Takes a Dive Gnostic85 Smackdown 2007/8/21 20:55 2502 3

| Smackdown: Insurance Policy Gnostic85 Smackdown 2007/8/24 15:49 2209 0
"So let me get this straight: Black Adam, a psychopath who killed thousands in World War Three, and some self-proclaimed 'god-killer' both show up for this 'Smackdown', and you - what? - just let them play?"
"Well... yes..."
"*tch* Americans. You have no understanding of what is required for good security..."
"What are you complaining about? Just means you get the opportunity to take out the world's most hated psychopath, right?"
"Hell, I'm not complaining. This is a great opportunity. I'm just saying, you guys could've saved yourself a lot of time and money if you developed a better screening process..." |
|
| Smackdown: Insurance Policy 2 Gnostic85 Smackdown 2007/8/24 17:15 2647 7
"Can't see anything from here. I'm heading out."
"Careful. He's not a suicide bomber trying to take out the local pizzeria..."
"I know. He doesn't care about religion, nationality, or anything else. He'll even kill kids if they get in his way. I've spent a couple of months studying every move he made during WWIII. Trust me, Lady H. I'm ready for him."
"Just remember, we want him controlled, not killed..." |

"Yeah! Direct hit from 500 yards away! Am I good, or what?"
"You realize that probably didn't do much damage, right? You've just pissed off one of the most powerful beings on Earth..."
"Oh, I'm counting on it..." |

PFF!
"What the hell did you just do?! Adam is off the radar!"
"Relax. I opened a black hole and he flew right into it. He'll be fine once he figures out where he is..."
"Where did you send him?!"
"A small outpost on the Gaza Strip. That should keep Adam busy for a few minutes..." |
