cape, belt, and boots by predatron's v3 superhero package. once again, like with my superman image, it's been too long ago that i got the texture to remember where i got it from. i personally did the cape texture, though. it's actually about the only good texture i've ever made myself. |

batman's cowl, superman's boots and cape, and batman's gloves courtesy of predatron's v3 superhero complete. building by predatron's city streets. batman's cape by orca design studios (pain in the butt to work with, btw). don't remember where the superman costume texture came from. batman's costume texture is a reworking of the gray batgirl texture from petercotton's bundle.
this image took 3 freakin' days to get just right. mainly because of the learning curve with using the cloth room on the cape, which i had never done before. i've spent most of this day working on the stars and clouds in the background and touching up the skin pokethrough on superman.
was it worth it? you tell me |

mara jade wearing the morphing fantasy dress with "dark side" textures from, if i remember correctly, renderosity. if i'm wrong, please correct me. can't remember where i got the space station from. i've got so much in my runtime folder, and i've had a lot of it for so long, that sometimes i just can't remember where i got it. i even find stuff i had forgotten i had on a daily basis. |

| The Secret of Skaro thestarkiller TV and Movies 2008/4/15 4:37 2246 5
I did this image a long time ago on a whim and it sparked an idea for a story about the Doctor and Rose traveling to Skaro, homeworld of the Daleks, at a point in their history before the Daleks had been created, only to find out that the Daleks had stolen timelord technology in order to travel back and ensure their own genesis. I never wrote the story, but if I ever do, I've got a pretty cool cover image for it.
Once again, can't remember where I got this stuff. I do know that in all my searching I've only found a handful of Tardis figures and only one set of Daleks, and they were all on the same site. If anyone happens to know where these figures came from, please let me know so I can give proper credit. |

| Return to 2099 thestarkiller Marvel Comics 2008/4/21 13:58 2489 3
Does anybody remember this guy? I had forgotten about it until I downloaded the Spidey mask and textures from Sharby, but after I found it I dug out my old 2099 collection and remembered just how much I loved this comic. Miguel O'hara had the same dry whit that Peter Parker has but the book was much darker, which I think is something that suits the character.
Textures and Mask by Sharby. Background props are Sector 15 by Stonemason.
As for how I got rid of the mask seam that runs down the center, I just used the blur tool and blurred the hell out of it in Photoshop. That method won't work with other Spidey masks that sport webbing, but it was fine for this image. |
|
| The Punisher thestarkiller Marvel Comics 2008/4/23 20:50 2369 4
This took surprisingly little time to set up. I actually spent more time in Photoshop with this image that I did in Poser.
Predatron's City Streets for the alley M3 Alligator Coat T3 Pants (can't remember who did them) and finally, Punisher texture by me. Yes, by ME! My very first personally done texture. I took a black background, added the Punisher skull from the movie, put in a film grain effect for cloth texture, and a little gausian blur to cover up the fact the the resolution of the skull was much, much smaller than the texture needed to be. I took lessons from petercotton's bundle on how to pull off an effective bump map to give the illusion of folding cloth, modified a trans map that I have and voila. . .instant Punisher (ok, so not instant. more like several hours worth of work Punisher, but instant sounded better)
let me know what you think for my first attempt. I am no longer a texture virgin. |

| Powergirl thestarkiller DC Comics 2008/5/8 17:43 4573 5
Another Lightwave render using an imported V3. I'm still working out the kinks with Lightwave. It's a much more powerful (and expensive) program than Poser, but if you're used to Poser there's a HUGE learning curve. For instance, the Powergirl costume texture is actually half petercotton and half me. In lightwave blending unimesh skin mats with costume textures using trans maps doesn't exactly work, or if it does I haven't figured out how, so I had to use pete's powergirl trans map as a template. It took a few hours in Photoshop to get it just right.

And I still haven't figured out how to put a damned cape on this girl. I'll probably rework this entire image and post the update. |

all other textures by me.
You always see images of She-Hulk working out or beating the crap out of villains in her one piece, but people tend to forget she's a lawyer and must dress the part sometimes. I did this formal outfit for her for two reasons. One, you hardly ever see her not in costume, and two I couldn't quite get the costume to work on V4. I'm still a little "green" so to speak, when it comes to textures. |

| Indiana Jones thestarkiller TV and Movies 2008/5/22 20:53 2339 4
I cobbled this all together from different stuff I had lying around the runtime folder. got all this stuff so long ago that I have no idea where any of it came from. everything was retextured in Lightwave, by me, though. The jacket was originally denim, so i kinda had no choice but to retexture it. |

| Mary Jane: Lonely Wife of a Superhero thestarkiller Marvel Comics 2008/5/25 14:34 2744 4
I know I'm getting a bit artsy with this one, but I thought it important to illustrate how lonely it must have been for Mary Jane to have lived with a man who had to rush out the window every 20 minutes. I'm speaking in visual metaphors with this image. The window represents the fact that they are constantly seperated. Plus, while Spidey may be just on the other side of the glass, her reflection is still closer to her than he is, illustrating that no matter how close they are, she really only has herself. Once again, a bit artsy, but the page said this week's girl was Mary Jane, and this concept just came to me.
The Window and corresponding pose for MJ along with the T-Shirt came from mostdigitalcreations.

| Mystique thestarkiller Marvel Comics 2008/5/26 12:23 3439 5

My girlfriend loves this piece. Of course she's a huge World of Warcraft freak. She even SPEAKS in WoW chat lingo when she's not playing the game.
The armor is a mish-mash of stuff I've had lying around the runtime folder for a while.
Background is The Lost Garden.
Night Elf textures from, I think, renderosity. If I'm wrong on that one, please correct me so I can give proper credit for these spectacular textures.
Posed in Poser 7. Retextured and rendered in Lightwave 9. Not a single little bit of postwork done, other than a resizing of the image. |

| Wonder Woman thestarkiller DC Comics 2008/6/16 19:16 5621 8
I saw Barbie Griffin in the cookie jar and it caused me to search the interwebs for any pics I could find. Found this one and it just screamed Wonder Woman to me. Of course I had to change her from blonde to brunette, but that was a minor problem. The biggest pain was her boots. They look alright to me, but let me know what you guys think.
Also, for a fourth manip I think I'm progressing nicely. |

| Fairchild thestarkiller DC Comics 2008/6/19 0:36 3797 8
One of my favorite comic book characters. I know the black background's a little bland, but I ran out of ideas, and couldn't find anything suitable.

| Rogue thestarkiller Marvel Comics 2008/6/21 19:32 3533 7
The delectable Gauge as Rogue. Although, from her movies, we all know that Gauge can be touched, but she still leaves you drained afterwards. Pulled this image from our very own cookie jar.
Do you guys think I should try adding the bulky leather jacket? It seemed like it would be a bit much considering how much space she's taking up in the picture. |
|
| Sue Storm thestarkiller Marvel Comics 2008/6/25 11:34 9558 10
The model is Katie Cannon.
I personally think I took a step back with this one, but I've done all I can do. The only way I could possibly do better with this one would be to start all over and there's no guarantee that it would turn out better. It looks like the definition of simplicity, but it actually turned out to be one of the more complex pieces I've done so far; definitely the most time consuming, anyway.
Any criticism and/or observations will greatly help me improve.
p.s. It is going to be a VERY long while before I work with white again. Guess I'll have to put that Power Girl project on the backburner for a while.

This one took me a while. I spent the last 3 days going back and forth between this and another project.

Lockheed was the easy part.

| Jean Grey: Throughout the Ages part 1 thestarkiller Marvel Comics 2008/7/4 2:11 3342 7
This is the first in a series I am working on. I'm going to use the same base image to depict Jean Grey in the various costumes she's worn over the years. Beginning at the beginning, this is the very first costume she ever wore in X-Men back in 1963.
This is a labor of love for me. Jean's always been one of my favorite comic book characters (I've got a thing for redheads), and I very much want to do this series justice. So, any constructive criticism you may have for me will make this series that much better.
The model is Heather Carolin. I was compelled to search out pics of her for a base Jean Grey image after seeing the incredible Firestar manips done by Wasmith over in the member's gallery.
p.s. I toyed with the thought of putting seams on the costume, but discarded the idea because I wanted to keep this first one simple. The great thing about the original X-Men uniforms was their simplicity and I felt that adding seams all over the place would clutter the image and contradict the result I was going for. |
|
| Jean Grey: Throughout the Ages part 2 thestarkiller Marvel Comics 2008/7/6 21:44 3602 7
After the defeat of Factor Three in 1964, Jean was given the opportunity to design new, more colorful costumes for the X-Men. This was what she designed for herself, although it begs the question, what the hell was she smoking? I was never a fan of this costume, but I had to include it as part of the chronology.
Next up: The X-Factor Years
UPDATE: fixed the belt buckle and added texture to the costume. |
