this has took a while. the legs on the model took the longest i just couldn't get them right so i swapped them for these.still not happy with the fire effect i can't imagine what a microwave heat would look like.
i think i have to try ice-man now just to complete the set. |

| OK, so now i've caught up on unposted manips. This is Eternity, one of the extremely powerful abstract Cosmic entities in the Marvel Universe. This manip might look easy, but it took an insanely long time to do. I plan to do almost all of the major Cosmic beings, including Infinity, Eon, Ego, Abraxas, all those, plus Silver Surfer, and if i'm feeling ambitious, maybe Galactus or the Watcher! |

| I just want to thank BA for his advice and tutorial about creases and wrinkles. This is my first manip trying those techniques. I still have to practice it a bit, but it is clear to see how they make all the difference in putting the finishing touches on a manip. Now on to learning capes! |

My first submission here...with the teamup coming up and others posting here as well promoting a peace i thought i would join in. anyway this is marrow after getting the crap beat out of her by wolverine. i opted for angelina jolie as marrow, don't know why just did. kept the outfit she had on, i think it works, it would work in the movies. i added some bruises, cuts, and various other lacerations and injuries. Primarily used the burn tool and set it to different ranges to achieve the look. the exposed bone was burned to give it that fresh out of the body look and then i just carefully transformed and masked them in. that's pretty much it. apologies on the background, i created it and masked around ms. jolie, but it never really looked good because of the limitations. thanks goes out to C2F artist Zac for the pointers and advice. While searching base models for a project, I came across this pic, and thought it would make a good Namorita.
It had a perfect background and the netting already wrapped around her. I thought this would make things simpler. I was wrong. Easier to just mask out the nude figure and go from there. Instead I spent most of my time trying to pull her body out from all those little holes in the net! AAAUUUGGH!
(Also felt it was time to switch my old "ETD" logo for my new "Matrixblur Bolt")

Have to say that the headpieces on my last few manips have given me problems, but by the time I get to them, I've lost patience and am anxious to get to the next project. Maybe I should start with them first.
Interesting sidenote: Each time I try metalics, I do it a different way, and each time I'm relatively pleased with the results. Further proof that there is no one way to pull off a manip, but experimentation is key.
(still too chicken to attempt a hero with a cape, but soon...) |

Oldie. Rebecca Romjin Stamos. I think this is one of my favourite of my own manips.
Additional Art Notes: Well, it was about a week, and over 120 layers in the making, but finally here we have Rebecca Romjin Stamos as Barbara Norris aka Brunhilde aka Valkyrie. Starting with an image of RRS standing in what looked like a wheat field, first thing i did was remove out the original collar line of her swim costume. Now it was time to start the suit. I had a couple of attempts before I decided on what you see here. I used the faux leather texture to fill a new layer. I colorized this layer blue, then cut away the extra to leave only the areas that would be the suit With the initial cutting complete, I duplicated this layer twice. the original layer's mode was set to color. the second layer's mode was set to burn at 25% opacity. the third layer's was set to multiply at 75% opacity (obviously i had a bit of experimenting, but these produced the best results. The metals were all created with various layers of gradient fills and the burn tool. The cape was attempted using one of the tutorials Dperciful posted to the hints'n'tips thread(here: http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/Forum7/HTML/002595.html) Added additional texturing to the resultant material. The background is actually three seperate photo's of the Highlands up areound Ullapool - The sky and big hill is a layer, castle ardvreck & the water & hill on the right another layer, and the grass closest at the bottom on a third layer. I actually went as far as texturing Dragonfang (seen behind the title) before I remembered in this piece it would be in a scabard which is bound with rectangles with a deformed leather texture as is the sword handle. The font is Skeksis.

| Inspired by the sassy, sexy Cat that appears in the Spider-Man 2 video game. A lot of frankensteining went into this, but I did all of the hair and fur by hand(by mouse..?), as well as some of the shinies in her outfit. I am pretty happy with it overall, though my edges are still rough, and the cat looks fake. |

| this was originaly going to be colossus and that is why the guy is so big, but as i was playing with different chrome effects i came up with this and so iceman was born. i used quite a few tutorials for this to create different ice effects but the one for iceman is all me. |

this is a quick manip i did of collosus using a method i came up with. it is nothing more than multiple dodging and burning of an image and coloring via color balance to create the effect. i hardened the face with some lines and set the layermode to overlay. if you would like to see how the process plays out you can look at my tutorial at

certainly not the best of the bunch but i love the expression on her face. this took some time to do, mainly just figuring out how open the suit should be cos i wanted her to look like she was almost bursting out. the zipper wasn't as difficult as i thought it would be and i think it turned out okay.
at some point i should redo the earlier ones as they already look quite primitive by comparison.
anyway i hope you like it, i have more on the way. |

Okay, obscure character time, but I couldn't resist when I saw the base pic as an advert for Game Boy Advanced. Vincente has always been a favorite of mine that was criminally underused. He was in the 4 issues of the Age of Apocalypse based Generation Next, then vanished from the radar. This version has the young Jeremy Irons cast in the role. Dunno why but he seemed to suit.
A real quicky this one, taking an hour or so rather than a month or so that it seems to have taken me recently. ;) |
