| Zion Prime is my original character and has been for several years. It took me 6 years to develop this guy and I'm proud of him. (You can find him in MySpace under the name of Zion Prime.) But, anyway, back to the point, Superman decided he needed to come to Chicago (my home town). And I had to show him what I think of aliens and of people trying to help clean up my city. |

| Ok, some backstory here. Bear with me. Sitting home today, watching some football, waiting for my girlfriend to get off work, reading Teen Titans #40. I'm struck by the last page of it which is the left side of the submitted piece here. Very cool scene of the rebirth of Jericho by Tony Daniel inspired me so I start doodling in my book. I'm actually pretty pleased with the result so I thought I would submit it alongside the inspiration for it. I'm not real pleased with the lower abdominals but overall I think it looks pretty good. Please don't tell me that it isn't as good as the comic I already know that. I wasn't trying to compete with it I was just inspired by it. |

This was done for another site. The premise is to do a character in mad genius Temporal Dave's Squinty Mc Chin style. If you're not familiar with Dave's stuff, he's the guy that did the very funny BatHomer image in the upper right part of the Home Page. Since I'm such a huge fan of Squinty in particular and Dave in general, I actually picked up a pencil and drew something for the occasion (gasp!). I've also included the goofy little backstory I added over at the other site since folks seemed to enjoy that at least as much as the drawing.
Doctor's Dilemma: Chinny McFate
Poor Kent Nelchin... as Chinworld's Dr. Fate, he would become the sorcerer supreme of this world simply by placing the mystic helmet of Fate over his head. Unfortunately, the ancient forces which placed these great magical powers within the helmet failed to consider the evolution of massive mandibles among the superheroes of the planet and poor Kent can't seem to get the helmet to fit right, no matter how hard he tries. This means he can't actually see when wearing the helmet and it causes his spells to misfire in unpredictable ways which makes poor Chinny one of the least called upon heroes of Chinworld. Squinty in particular, avoids working with him due to his own susceptibility to magic and has frequently been forced to come up with awkwardly lame excuses so as not to make poor Nelchin feel any worse.

| 18"x22" aluminum panel. All airbrushed except for the very fine lines (those were pen and ink. This is the first time I've ever airbrushed the female form.. It went pretty smoothly until I started painting the face.. what a pain in the arse that was. Original line art was a Adam Hughes con sketch. |
