This was a villain that showed up maybe twice in the pages of Iron Man and Avengers. I did it because the helmet was weird enough to be challenging.

When I did this one originally, I bent over backwards in my caption explaining to anyone who hadn't heard of the character that this was NOT a bad joke. If you never read the Captain Confederacy book, it was one of the better alternate history comics out there.

When I did this one, I had NO clue who the character was. I did it from a reference pic sent by a fan as a request. I still don't think I've ever read a book with her in it as a hero (She had a cameo in the New Teen Titans a while back, but she wasn't in costume). Still, I like the way the leather turned out.

This was the first manip that I experimented with lighting to create highlights and shadows. Because of that I'm kind of fond of it, even though I know I've done better work.

Not only that, I miss Katma desperately.

Though Planetary is slowly entering the zone of "I don't care how it resolves," the series was at its peak when I did this manip. Hell, probably only four or five issues have come out since I did this.
