| Superman-Alex Ross Style Jedifan227 2005/4/15 0:36 3241 4
I tried really hard to pay homage to Alex Ross in this piece. The pose, the coloring, even the gray temples of his hair. This was a fairly easy manip, but I took my time with it. I made it large to show the awesome horizon and give it real depth. In all, I think it looks good. Enjoy!! |

I am in the process of trying to fix my image quality problems. I adjusted a few things, and I am pretty much just using this as a test. Here goes... |

| Superman to the rescue BatMic 2004/7/14 10:26 3729 18
thought you all might be interested in this. superman was lifted from a comic so that's why he looks abit cartoony but the main thing i'm quite proud of is the explosions, just a little tweaking like the adding of a lens flare at the point of origin and the reflection on the plane. it was quite a fun piece to do actually, makes a nice change from T&A pics. |

| Superman Patriotic WTC Jedifan227 2005/4/20 22:15 2873 6
Superman flies high above NYC to place an American Flag atop the newly constructed WTC building. In a brillant display of emotion, Superman carries a flag, retrived and restored from the original Twin Towers, and proudly takes it to its perch above the city. The crowds cheer as their hero marks a new day for America.
This was a rather hard one to do, but I think it came out alright. The base was small, and I really had to stretch my limits to get the result I wanted. I came up with the theme, simply from the pose. I thought to myself that this would be a very emotional picture. It is inspiring, even without seeing the new towers themselves. God Bless America!! Enjoy!!!! |

I found this base pic and thought about doing another Superman. The base was poor but I tweaked it the best I could. I think it turned out well. As always, comments appreciated. Enjoy! |

Just keeping my hand in with manipping really. Here we have Marcus Schenkenberg (whom I've used before - see my 'Blink' piece) as a younger Man of Steel. Had to do a fair bit of cleaning up on the original image as there was a lot of text to remove. The costume was made by first creating a composite texture made up from three separate elements - leather, faux suede, and chainmail (much reduced in size) - to try and give it some texture (similar to spidey's movie costume which I love the texture on the blue sections) Then I created a layer to apply the texture. Using the lasso tool to create appropriate areas, the texture is applied at various angles to match the body shape at that area. I then mask of the extra leaving the areas that would be the suit. Using the same mask I duplicate the original model layer, tweaking the muscles and smoothing/smudging where necessary. this layer is then duplicated again with the original layer's mode was set to multiply and the second layer's mode set overlay. The logo was created from scratch in vectors a while back for another project, simply here reduced and distorted to fit the chest then used to create selections to apply the soft embossed feel.
I tried to give the cape a believable flowing feel, not sure if I did, but I like how it turned out. It started with a solid block of color on a layer behind supes. Using the lasso tool I created gradually darker blocks of the red (using HSL adjustment) to give the feel of folds in the cape. The same method used to create supes shadow on the cape. Then used free hand soften tool to blend all the shades together. Over the whole lot applied a gradient fill to darken the cape further where it curves over the shoulder to light at the bottom. The actual shoulder pieces are on a layer to the front of supes, again beginning with a couple of solid blocks of color. Used gradients, the lasso and HSL to create the tighter folds and wrinkles (where it's stitched/joined to the costume). Over the whole lot I introduced some granularity. This had the effect of giving the cape some texture post smoothing.
blended in the flag in the background to further enhance the 'belief in something larger than yourself' feel.
Edit: Added more creation notes on costume and cape. |

| Superman & Supergirl-- Liberty Island Jedifan227 2004/12/13 2:21 3600 4
This piece took me most of the night. I started from scratch will just a simple manip of Supergirl. Then I had an idea. I had to find the right base for Superman, in the same angles and pose. Well, I cheated a few things, but I really cant tell what they were now. I found the background very patriotic, and fitting for such a picture as this. I really sunk hard into this one. And as always, comments are appreciated. ENJOY!!! |

ok so i've had this base that i wanted to turn into superman for quite some time now, buy inspiration failed me time and again as i tried to find a way to make it more than "just another superman manip". so i decided to use the streamlined costume desigend by Draxhall for Wizard Magazine's proposal for an "Ultimate Superman" comic. The poem is actually the lyrics to a song entitled "Collect From Clark Kent" by one of my favorite bands, Braid. Enjoy! |

This is an unfinished picture with Darth Vader as a young Superman. I did it a year agon and I lost interest in it because I couldn't figure out how to make it interesting. It is part of a big panorama. It was to have Lex Luthor in a Kryptonite suit. If anyone wants to help me finish it I'm game. |

| Supergirls! Jedifan227 2007/4/17 23:04 4723 7
Well, this one is one of my hardest I have ever done. I took this HUGE base and made it something I have always wanted to do...TWO SUPERGIRLS! I spent alot of time on this one, so be nice! |

i know, i know, another damn supergirl pic. this is similar to one i have already done but i had to show of this cape which i am really pleased with, and also because someone said they prefer her traditional "s" logo to the one i did. the background was inspired by a great superman pic which is posted at this site. the full sized version is posted at the other site. |

| Supergirl4 by batmic BatMic 2004/4/3 13:51 6543 9
another supergirl from me. the most difficult part of this was copying her left arm to give her the hands on hips pose. i'm afraid that i don't know the models name but i do have a few pictures of her which i would be happy to post if anyone is interested. |

| Supergirl3 by batmic BatMic 2004/4/2 8:57 5991 6
i just love this girl. every farm should have a supergirl like this. she must have the most shiny hair i've ever seen so i had to make her the maid of might. |

| Supergirl... yet again. outlaw2LK 2006/4/5 20:24 5017 10
OK, I'm taking each log in to Heromorph to heart. With each visit I learn something new and try out each style and tip that I've read about. I'm going to try to stay away from trying to manip any other character other than Supergirl. I figure if I can perfect this then I will move on to another.
The difference with this piece is that I had actually taken the time to create it. I'm usually rushing these things and keeping them to 2 hours or less. This particular one took me 2 hours a day for the past 3 days. EEEK!
Please let me know what you think. Good and bad, any critique is helpful. |

I have seen the manip someone did where Elisha was Supergirl. This is my version. I found a base of a cheerleader, frankensteined the head, and added the costume. Not my best work, but I think it looks cool. Comments always welcomed. Enjoy!!! |
