| A friend of mine has commissioned a comic based on his OC, Streak. Streak is a cosmic level hero (thinks superman, thor, silver surfer) who is trapped in a Quantum Leap type senario. He is drawn from place to place (and even universe to universe) to set the cosmic ballance right in ways great and small. He is a very lonely character but he stoicly soldiers on hoping to one day be returned to his own world. |

It is one of my first serious tries at this. I usually try and try and then get frustrated and say forget it and trash the piece I was working on... however I am rather proud of the mask in this one. So.. I worked on masking the mask.. and the body and belt. I was going to give her pants or boots, but decided I just didnt have it in me, I figure she could be pantless :P

Born in a small poor village In India, Shanti, ran away to find her place in the world. Lost in the rain forests of Northern India, the young girl found herself cornered by a Tiger. Fearing for her life the young girl cried out in prayer to the Mother Goddess.
Her prayers were answered when the Tiger instead of pouncing, reclined and began to speak to her. The Tigress revealed herself to be the Goddess Devi and empowered the girl from each of her incarnations, Durga (Invincibility), Kali (the ability to speed and slow time), Saraswati (great knowledge and wisdom),Sri Lakshmi (great beauty), and Parvati (the ability to sense lies).
Thus empowered, the girl, was given the name RAJAKUMARI PADMA, Princess Lotus. Her mission to ease the suffering of the subcontinent's poor and mete out justice to wrong doers.
Notes: The update is not so much a redo as a clean up. The image is much sharper with cleaner line all around. The uniform remains much the same in form but mostly redrawn and textured.. The background, I feel. conveys a better overall mood.

The mother goddess XI-WANG MU and the Jade Emperor, YU-HUANG-SHANGDI, sought to end their loneliness by having a child. The emperor carved a statue of a girl from the keystone of his jade palace. XI-WANG MU, sprinkled her husband's creation with nectar from the fruit, of her Heavenly Peach Garden. The statue transformed into a child, which her parents name YUSHENG-LIJUAN (Beauty and grace, born of jade)
A band of demons seeking to destroy the eternal couple's happiness stole the child from her crib and hid her on earth, where she became mortal. She was found by a family of poor rice farmers and raised as their own. YUSHENG-LIJUAN, called NINGHONG (Tranquil red), by her adopted family, grew in intelligence, wisdom, and beauty.
The gods would find their daughter when she turned twenty-one. They blessed her with demi-god hood and charged her with defending the weak and helpless.
Notes: Another redo of an older manip. Changed the pose and applied some newer techniques that I have learned. Much of the costume was reworked as well The background colors were enhanced to give an almost ethereal feel to the piece. The model is still the beautiful Annie Chu.

She is the Mistress of Mass Destruction, the Bringer of Flame, she is Heatseeker. A enemy of of Black Ice and by default Heatwave. Her path of destruction and mayhem is eclipsed only by her brother, Jailbreak.
Notes:Another original villain of mine. Oddly enough Heatseeker started off as male character called, Radioactive Man... I was 12 okay. Played with various textures and multiple levels to achieve the effects seen here. The background is a tanker explosion photo I Googled.

Black Ice: Like her grandfather, the WWII hero Polar, Black Ice commands the forces of winter. Black Ice and her lover Heatwave prove that opposites attract.
Powers: Able to project ice blasts reaching -150 and the ability to fly.
Model: Monique Cooper
Heatwave II: An extended superhero lineage. He is the grandson of WWII era heroes Heatwave (I) and Fleur de Lis and the child of Silver Age heroine Lady Sun.
Powers: Generate heat and emit heat blasts of at least 1500 F, flight.
Model: Mike Vrabel
Chica Potencia: Born in the rough and tumble post industrial area of Sunset Park Glenys Rivera was a child heading down all the wrong roads at break neck speed. The murder of her brother and her near death and subsequent enpowerment, at the hands of a rival gang changed her life around.
Powers: Strength (lift ~500lbs), Enhanced Agility and speed.
Model: Vicky Vance
The (8th Avenue) Tiger: Born in "Brooklyn Chinatown", Jason Chen was sent to private schools and was trained to be a Buddhist Monk. He was by no means born with a silver spoon in his mouth. His parents owned a small takeout in which the family worked 12-16 hr days. During his temple training he was bestowed with powers by a Taoist sorcerer.
Powers: Super Strength (lift ~2000lbs), mixed martial arts primarily Karate.
Model: Stan McQuay
Notes: Tried to do serious work with textures on this one. I also attempted to work in much sharper edges as well as exporing the arcane and recundite art of wrinkle and creases. The background pic is Brooklyn Borough Hall.

Her race?s red skin and pointed ears, giving them a somewhat demonic appearance despite being anything but, and her weapons consisting of pumpkin shaped gas grenades and 3D hologram gun make her a tricky bounty hunter that is surely no treat to crimnals. |

A bigger version of the picture on the front page. The boys thought they would throw me a little surprise birthday party. It didn't start out so well, as Matrixblur was put in charge of catering(he somehow thought Winterhawk said 'gator-ing', and filled the pool with live crocodiles), and Jr McDeath was put in charge of booze(he showed up with a box full of empty bottles and a very drunk sheep). Not surprisingly, Daruma was blamed for the whole thing. But 'Hawk managed to save the day, getting us food and liquor at the last minute, and we still had a pretty good time. There was a bit of a scare when chillyplasma, who showed up late and missed the warning about the crocodiles, jumped into the pool. But after wrestling three of the beasts into submission, the crocs recognized him as the alpha male and just stayed out of his way. It was a hell of a party.
Big thanks to Android for taking this picture,. It's one of the few memories I have of the night. |
