I'm in the process of creating an adult coloring book, just like all those mandala-based adult coloring books you can find in Barnes & Nobel and Walmart and Amazon and so forth. But mine, of course, will be full of breathtaking beauties to calm the heart and soul.

Here it is: The finished line art for the BANZAI GIRL chainsaw drawing I started some weeks ago.
My character -- and Wilfred! -- are surrounded by malevolent monsters who showed no mercy to Jinky's blouse. Now she's got only a chainsaw to hold them off!

A client asked me to create a concept of Banzai Girl wielding a chainsaw as monsters attack! I got as far as these preliminary pencils, but the client vanished.
No approval of the rough pencils, no response on his email, no address to send the final piece to...

A fan commissioned me to do a drawing of this character -- and based on the images I found online researching the character, this scene seemed to fit the best.

At Comic-Con San Diego this month, a Heromorph fan came by and bought my BANZAI GIRL and EXPOSURE books. (THANK YOU SO MUCH!)
As I was signing them, he said, "I never expected that you really looked like your picture -- or your character."
I laughed and showed him a bunch of my pictures that I sign at shows...and even did s sketch for him on the inside cover of the BANZAI GIRL volume 1. Hope you enjoyed the book. I enjoy being known as BANZAI GIRL!

The scene: As Banzai Girl dries off ofter a shower, her little sister Jasmine comes in to her bedroom to chat.
Way back in March 2010, I contributed the original version of this scene, which I intended for a BANZAI GIRL SPECIAL splash page. (Go check it out! I'll wait.)
The story was never completed.
Now, I've returned to that story, intending to finish it for release next year. This splash page is the first page I've redrawn, with new color by Katrina Mae Hao.
Let me know which version you prefer -- the original or this one!

In March 2010, I did a version of this image which I posted here on Heromorph. Although it was well-received, I later noticed some problems with it -- perspective, proportion, even eye contact didn't work.
Go ahead and check out the original, and compare it with this one, so you can see how I've grown as an artist over the past 5 years. :)

For a custom commission, an EXPOSURE fan wanted Lisa Shannon and Shawna Diaz as a secret agent and Bond girl, respectively.
So I gave it a classic Bon movie poster feel, with the pose, the gun, the tuxedo collar and cuffs, the elegantly-draped-on-the-bed girl, pearls, and even the classic Bond swirl.

One of the stories has a girl taking revenge on Banzai Girl's family for misperceived actions. Here my self-named character Jinky suffers a home invasion from her nemesis Pink!

Wildstorm character JAKITA WAGNER was ported over to the DC universe nd was part of Batman's storylines. One of my fans, also a Batman fan, asked me to do my depiction of her.
I decided to do a version of her those showed both sides of her, while showing that she is indeed clinging to the DC Comics universe.

After Marlon Ilagan sent to me the purple version I posted moments ago, I suggested that we go with a more primary RED on my art -- more like classic Mary Marvel coloring.
Marlon responded with the reds and also making the character a brunette -- and lightening her skintone in the process to make the red pop more.
This is the version Ricky Mountain Con accepted for their program book cover.
For those of you interested, Rocky Mountain Con (RMC)is Saturday and Sunday, October 25 and 26, at the Crowne Plaza, Denver International Airport, in Denver, Colorado.

After my tryout with a European colorist, and with Katrina MaeHao away on vacation, I went to Marlon Ilagan, a Filipino colorist I hadn't had much chance to work with before.
Marlon came up with his own color scheme -- a tanne blonde California girl look -- and I liked the cheerier results.
