I used Poser 4 and photoshop 7. I did Batman and Robin, a section of rope, Batman's shadow and some minor dodge and burning to the rest of the pictures for lighting. My partner blew me away and finished the rest and did such a great job on it. This version is only 50% of the actual size but you can find a full sized version at

Graphicmouse Art notes: Winterhawk showed me a line drawing that he wanted to try and I said let's go for it. Everything is from scratch using the drawing as a reference. Mainly i sketched the drawing then scan it and colored it in Photoshop. Somethings about the original didn't hit me as being right so i changed the look of the Joker and adjusted the paddle to equal where the steel blade ball was going, other wise I tried to make it as close as possible to the original. |

Well, here is the first of my new kind of manips. Hope you all enjoy.
Inspired by the cover of The Spectre #1 from april 1987.
Done using Photoshop 7 and Poser 4.
Started this Thursday evening and finished it today. It had a ton of layers. I mainly used dodge and burn as well as the smudge tool to make this. The main figure is a 4-part Frankenstein, using Dolf Lungren's Chest, a poser arm and hand, Biohaz-daddy's arm and hand, as a mystery actor’s head (any Guesses?). I have no idea how many layers this is I had to keep merging them together to keep thing workable.

Vic Sage - a.k.a. The Question. A really fast manip. The base image was really crappy, I tried to clean it up but then decided to leave it a little grainy to try to give the image that old detective movie look to it. I spent most of my time trying to make the quality of the background match the figure.

I wanted to do something different. I was getting kind of bored doing the same old thing the same old way. A long time ago, i remember reading a poem, that for me, summed up who the joker is? the manip itself i did real fast. less then a hour. I was going for a grainy dark look rather then realism.

Well here is a gender change, I started the other day and decided to finish up today.
Not my best but it turned out OK. Time to move on.
I did practice using the pen tool on this one. It sure has a lot of functions to learn.
I really need to learn how to make belt pouches and other accessories. I had some but they looked horrendous so they did not make the finished picture.
This picture was more of an effort to fend off artists block then anything else. Thanks to DK for suggesting the character.

A quick and fun manipulation. I asked my wife what hero i should do for my next manip and she told me to try metamorpho (as he is one of her favorite superheroes)
I tried alot of new things with textures in this one. I also tried some new filters and layers settings.
All in all I am Pleased with the results.
Any comments, critiques,ratings, or tips for improvement are encouraged and welcome.

This picture is the first time I have tried to draw anything in about 9 years. I used a pencil then did colouring in Photoshop. I am way more sketchy then I used to be, but I think it turned out OK, I was expecting much worse since it has been so long since I have tried to draw. |

C2F/Heromorph Crossover event Entry:
Working with Mike was really quite fun. I quite enjoyed the process.
First we threw ideas back and forth until we came up with a similiar plan as this one. Originally we were planning on having Nightwing and Robin in the picture pearched on the edge of a building about to pounce on Ivy and Harley. then we searched for base pictures. After deciding on the Base pictures to be used we started to manip the characters. I did Ivy & Nightwing and Mike did Harley & Robin. When We finished the figures we talked back and forth about the final picture and decided to have Ivy and Harley escaping from Arkham. When Mike was putting the elements of the picture together he realized that Nightwing and Robin did not really fit into the picture anymore, so they were scrapped. Mike made all of the background elements then sent me the PSD I did some minor repositioning on the elements and a bit of trimming here and there and Voila. I sent it back to Mike, and We agreed that We were done.
As for Ivy, I made her with standard Maniping techniques, nothing to special. |

Over at C2F, they had a challenge to do a manip in one hour. You had to include time for base model searching and any other prep work in your one hour time limit. For the full rules of this challenge you can find it here ( http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/Forum7/HTML/003168.html ). I thought that it was an interesting Idea so I took part. Normally, I work pretty fast but this one really had me rushed. I did this on thurdays evening just after diner. Here is a breakdown of how I spent my time.
6:20 started
6:21 had base picture & opened it in photoshop
6:35 Finished making skirt from scratch using dodge and burn on a solid colour.
6:38 Finished cleaning mess on hands and arms from skirt I made.
6:45 finished making blue shirt
6:50 finished internet search for "s" symbol
6:55 cut and pasted "s" symbol onto shirt
7:00 added in some details, drop shadows and a couple of wrinkle.
7:15 finished cape
7:17 clean up from cape.
7:18 added my "W" logo
7:19 croped picture and re-sized
7:20 saved optimized for web
I was really surprised on what I could do in a single hour. It was fun. Some of you guys might want to try it, it was a good training exercise if nothing else. |

The grown UP daughter of Santa Claus and Elasti-Girl. She put the jolly into old saint nick.
I had the idea for the character and i needed a break from the other manip i was doing, so here she is. powers include size control, elasticity, super strength, healing factor, and knowing who is naughty and who is nice. |

After I finished my part on the first Call to Arms picture. I thought I would try a Multiple Character manipulation myself. If i knew we were going to be doing a new Call to arms project I probable would have saved this picture for that but alas that is not the case. What i Found difficult on this one, each model had a swimsuit on. some one peice and others two piece suits. some of the forms and shape of the bodies were gone so i had to comprimise will some of the shapes of the costumes. The biggest example is Wonder Woman, the WW on her chest does not really form to her body because of the swim suit. I also made it a good size for wallpaper. for those looking for a new desktop. All in all I am pleased with this one.
