Poser 8 - Moving around character

I'm a beginning user to Poser 8 and tried some tutorials I found online. I hit a speed bump when I needed to drag my character to sit on the ground. I could rotate the whole body around, but I couldn't drag the whole body up or down. I'm using a Mac. Any suggestions on what I need to do?
