The whole "lion" thing was brought about by people mis-hearing a line in the trailer. A guy is heard to saw "It's alive! It's huge!" and some people thought they heard "It's a lion! It's huge!"

Also, that line may discount the giant robot theory.

I don't think it's Godzilla, primarily because the rights to the North American Godzilla franchise rest with Sony Pictures and this one is funded/produced by Paramount.

Also, the website www.slusho.jp is apparently connected in some way to this production, but www.ethanhaaswasright.com and www.ethanhaaswaswrong.com are not (it was previously reported that they were, but JJ Abrams himself has stated that they are not -- it's now believed they're related to M. Night Shyamalan's new one).
