Re: Total Recall Remake

When I was young I am fairly sure I had read We Can Remember It For You Wholesale before Total Recall was released. Thing is I didn't pick up on the connection until someone told me about it or I noticed it in the credits.
They changed the story, it was an old book and hard to find and not many people knew of it. The movie-makers had made something (mostly) original and delivered it to a different audience.
You can get Total Recall on DVD, there's nothing wrong with the movie, they could just re-release it in 3D. I don't see the point of remaking movies that were perfectly good and aren't that old.

Then again, maybe the trailer is a misdirection, the rest of the new movie may be completely different with a new story worth seeing.
