Er... Yeah, this whole website is kinda built on copyright infringement. Literally. IIRC 'heromorph' originally referred specifically to photomanips, and those by definition involve using other people's (usually) copyrighted photographs. Cover flips are in the same boat. I always assumed that ethically speaking, we claim them as our own work because of the effort we put into altering them. That and their being not-for-profit means they imo fall under fair use/fair dealing as a legitimate exception to copyright law. I absolutely think posting other people's art or photography unaltered and without permission in the main gallery (the cookie jar is different, since it's a resource) is bad form and shouldn't be allowed. But I don't see how using fan art or manips in an image is different from using photos or professional comics artwork IF the final product is substantially your own work.

That's my completely amateur and ill-informed opinion, anyway.
