I really don't understand the part were the young one is gay and the old one is not.
Unless of course the young one is not from the same timeline/universe/dimension as the older one and this is the first hint that these are similiar versions to the existing ones but from an alternate dimension/timeline/universe pulled into this one. But it very well could just be weird writing.
