You know I am definately one of those judgemental fans, though I'd rather call myself a comic book purist, I could count on both hands many movies that I knew were gonna suck just by one photo (George Clooney as Batman), a trailer (Richard Pryor in Superman III)or the choice of actor (Halle Bery as Catwoman, Michael Clarke Duncan as Kingpin), plus given the treatment Hollywood has given superheroes in the past it's no surprise that most comic fans dread changes to a superhero when they appear in a movie (Galactus in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer). In fact some of the very best comic book movies were the ones that stayed true to the comic ( Blade,Conan, Watchmen,Sin City, Kick Ass). It's not that we won't give a comic book movie a chance, it's just we are so used to being disappointed when Hollywood makes these terrible changes to the characters we grew up with ( Jean Grey being older than Cyclops in the X-Men movies,Superman's sickly son in Superman returns, The penguin being a sewer urchin instead of a real mob boss in Batman Returns, Bruce Banners father being a cross between Zzaxx and the Absorbing man in Ang Lee's Hulk). It's not that I mean to be so judgemental, It's just I don't want Hollywood to fall back on the practice of of putting profit over character. After all, it's the comic book community that determines the success or failure of these films.
