Tome of Thaynes

Subject: Tome of Thaynes

So I guess a good place to start is with the last sketch I did. I've noticed over time that a new look has surfaced to my pencils. In conversation with Bio I came to understand it's not a new style, but a different technique. Either way, I noticed one technique seemed to be the one you all are familar with. This other one shows it's face when I feel in an artsy mood. By saying that.... I'm beginning to think that my interests are starting to wander slightly towards fantasy. So this was an attempt at the new technique on old ground.

I'd like to start out with my own personal critique. And from there see what anyone else has to say. So here we go.

Background.... Background, background, background :complain: I imagine that's one thing I might hear. And it's something I'm working toward. But at the moment all I see for Bat's is a gothic skyscrapin skyline. and nightness. Isn't that kind of old?
Also, something I've as yet to be able to pull off is a face on him that looks murderous without being evil. So at the moment he keeps looking young and a bit naive.
I don't know if some of you spotted it or not. There was an arm in between the capes. I was thinking of having him holding a batarang. Some time later I came back to it and the hand wouldn't cooperate. So I nixed it.

So, thoughts anyone?
