It gives the image a more &quot;Photo-realistic&quot; look and d usually does a great job and the Grain can be filtered out but the render times for IRay are insane most times. Iray is useless for animation or quick turnover. The ambient occlusion is to blame and if it&#039;s reduced that effect is lessened to some degree. I have tried IRay and I don&#039;t like particularly like it. 3Delight works just as well except for the glow effect that IRay has which can turn ANY surface into a light source...that&#039;s pretty badass. I wish Iwas better at it and had a more powerful system but I don&#039;t 4 GB VRAM and 16 GB RAM aren&#039;t enough to make my renders fast enough to be worth the switch...but I have tons of IRay plugins and add ons as well as shaders and lights and so on. I&#039;ll be ready to switch when the time comes...for now they need to render faster while maintaining quality. I&#039;ve watched the video several times now, and the more I see it, the more ideas I come up with for how to use the brush settings. Instead of concentrating on filters, layers styles and actions, brushes will shorten and simplify how I&#039;ve been doing stuff for a while now.<br /><br />I actually dabbled a bit with it before, but never thought about the other applications.<br />In my entry for the 1000 words, the rain I made in photoshop was from brushes I had made for the Rainy Days and Grundy&#039;s piece a few months back. For that rain brush, I had messed around with the scattering, angles and other brush settings...and never even contemplated how to do the same for fur, hair, and now (thanks to your suggestion) even textures!<br />I can see leather, wrinkles, cracks, and various other cloth textures in my head already!<br /><br /><br />Boy, I&#039;m eager to try new stuff now...<br /><br />Thanks again to you, and Jr for sharing this vid! It had a couple of stiff movement moments but for the most part it was fluid and seamless. Loved the action fight scenes as well as the visual magnitude of it all. I could go on for hours about this. I had given up rendering for several years because I didn&#039;t feel like I could get a realistic enough look. Octane changed that.<br /><br />And the Titan (I got a Titan Black) increased my rendering speed (from my GTX 680) by a factor of 4-6. A 36 hour render dropped to about 6 hours.<br /><br />I&#039;m not sure the Titan X is better than my Black enough to justify an upgrade. More CUDA cores, more memory (I have actually run into memory issues when rendering multiple characters when using my 680+Titan to render) and slightly faster. But another $1,000? And I don&#039;t think my machine can power 2 Titans...
