Wow, haven't seen this thread in awhile. Seems weird after taking classes. But now that I think of it, I do have some odd thoughts.

The class I took had us using Newsprint and some other heavy weight paper. The teacher was fond of Bienfang.

Don't remember if a view finder was mentioned here. We had to make one from card board. Just cut 2 "L"s out of a square and you're good.

Also, I was at a store called MicroElectronics. They had a Wacom Intuos 4, for 248.00

If you're having problems getting it onto tracing paper, bring in more light. Hell, it probly wouldn't hurt to invest in a light box. I absolutely love mine!

Other than that. What other kind of tracing paper is there besides onion skin?

Okay, I tried very hard to post some new stuff here, but unfortuenately I couldn't figure out how to reduce the file size. I couldn't even upload to Photobucket! The best I could do was email the pics to myself as attachments. Can anyone help me reduce the file size, either talking me through it or doing it themselves?
I only have GIMP, btw.

Thank you for the clarification. I like being able to post stuff here rather that the HFC (which doesn't exist - or does it..?) because I don't like eating up server storage for stuff that isn't really finished, or won't be finished. Linking to it is just more efficient.

Also, not sure what happened with that link down below. Went to check it at imageshack and the link was still there, but the picture was gone. I notice they've been doing that quite a bit lately. I removed the link from that posting so that should stop any future crashes. Let me know if any of the other ones stop working.

To make up for it, anyone needing something to color could go to work on this if they want...(I have a finished version up in the comic gallery somewhere, but you're welcome to take a shot at it if you'd like.)

I didn't think it would be cheating; I already did the work myself. I just want to get the look I want. I can't do it painting 'cuz I suck at that. I figure colored pencils won't look good either, not on regular pencil.
And stealing is definitely not okay, I don't even trace unless it's my own work.

Look at you getting all geeky and technical. If I walked into my local art shop or drafting shop and asked for a 'smudge stick'... they would know exactly what I meant. Besides, although it is for blending... I look at it as smudging the pencil around. Oh well.. to each his own. :detailnerd:

Bio, I do like your exercises... we had to do that in college as well... except we had to do it with paint. Gave you a whole new respect for how easy pencil is compared to paint.
