I just found this site about a week ago and man am I impressed.

I have been working on skin coloring for a while now but I don't have the best software to do it in. My most recent attempt is coloring skin blue using Kira Knightly as a base image. Just wondering what you veterans think? I know I can do a lot better if I had the know how. At the moment I am using simple Adobe PhotoDeluxe Business Edition 1.1. I like it because it is simple. So that's what I use most of the time. I have Adobe After Effects 5.5 but have yet to master it. Plus it is mostly for movie making.

All I do is color the skin in a second layer over the original. That's all I know how to do at this point .

I am still working on getting the color to look natural. At this point it does not look like I am going to get the result i am looking for with the software i am using.

I am happy with the way the eyes came out though. From a dark brown to a cool blue .

Comments are allways greatly appreciated. Good or bad .

Here's what i got so far:

Actually that's a pretty good coloring. Better than some I've seen and those were using photoshop or paintshoppro. If you are curious I have seen paint shop pro around for a hundred. Not that hard to save for and it's a damn site easier that tryin to spend 600 on photoshop.

Otherwise, you're doing great with what you have, as far as I'm concerned. But why take my word for it. I imagine there are others here in the same shoes.

I believe both Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro can be downloaded for free 30 day trails. Or check one of the threads here about free software.

I'm unsure of your purpose in giving Keira Knightley* blue skin... but you don't need to worry about it looking natural as blue skin will never look natural.

Unless you are a smurf.

Aha! You are going to add a white hat later and turn her into Archer Smurf!

* I'd do Keira, nightly.

Archer Smurf

Yeah, this is looking pretty good... especially for the program that you are using.

I don't know much about Photodeluxe (I use Photoshop) but I imagine you will get a similar look with either. I think learning technique and tips may be what you're looking for.

There are widely acclaimed tutorials on this site:
http://heromorph.com/heromorph2/modules/mydownloads/
that range from basics, to more advanced techniques.

I would start there and see if they help. If you need specific help, pm a moderator, offer money, booze or women, and promise never to make Rosanne into Wonder Woman, and they will be happy to help.

I used to have that program a long long time ago. I did my first manips using that.

It definately isn't the best for maniping.
If I was you, I would check out a program called Gimp, it is free and can do most of what photoshop and paintshop pro can do. That being said you are doing a great job for the tools you have.
