Test run completed. I like what I see. A small improvement over 4.6 and smooth. Don't like the loss of backdrop imagery

That loss of backdrop doesn't exactly encourage me to upgrade either.

yeah I've been slow to make the full conversion myself. Personally I'm waiting until I get a new PC until I fully convert all my efforts to Daz 4 and above..so I'll marvel from a witness standpoint myself. lol

Just upgraded myself. Admittedly, I don't play around with all of the features anyway, and don't even use half of 'em, but I'll see what this upgrade has to offer. As for backdrop loss, I usually render the characters separately anyway, and photoshop the heck out of the background...so I'm ok with it for now.

Did I read wrong about the Progressive Real Time rendering while you work (Ala Reality/ Octane)Anyone know how to get this going?

As far as I know, you either have the IPR on or off (Set by enabling the IPR render...which I found by right clicking on the tab of the auxiliary viewport.)
You can show the toolbar for quick rendering, cancelling or saving of the IPR renders...

The more complicated the scene, the slower the IPR...

You probably found all that out by now, so I apologize if this doesn't actually answer your question, DW
-- but I'm still playin' around with the new stuff.

I'll say this...regardless of all other changes, updates, upgrades and whatever...

I absolutely love rendering .png files with NO halo effect!
The truly transparent background is great for rendering items individually, then splicing them in photoshop. Saves tons of postwork touching up those edges!

Well. I for one have never had that problem in any version of Daz. All you have to do is make sure you have a solid black background when you render.

No offense buddy. But Daz4 can be somewhat overwhelming to a first timer [hell it has me scratching my head every time I use it]. They do include some nice tutorials that should help you along the way, but I would suggest that you work with an older version [no lower than Daz 3] first to get yourself better acclimated to working in 3D. Then when you feel comfortable then make the upgrade. But then you know my number , you could always call.
