London Kentucky - home of the Chicken festival that celebrates the fact that the First Kentcky Fried Chicken in the world was founded about 12 miles south of here in Corbin Ky ( Corbin got screwed out of the deal becasue the city is in Knox, Whitly and Laurel counties) London is also in Laurel County so they called dibs on anything in Laurel and pretty much stole the first KFC from Corbin LOL

lol....yeah yeah yeah, we're most famous for our mounds and (supposed) inbreeding. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to take pride in the state of my birth or not! :D

But when it comes to west virginia stereotypes, I can claim a few.

When I was a baby my parents actually lived in a cabin in the mountains for a few months.

I used to live in a town so small it couldn't be found on a map. less than 2k people live there, all spread out over an area the size of NYC.

I can play part of Dueling Banjos on my guitar.

I actually like the sound a banjo makes.

When I was growing up there was always at least one unworking vehicle parked on my lawn.

I say "taters".

My extended family numbers in the hundreds. Seriously. That's just counting aunts, uncles, and first cousins.

Well folks, I reside in Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi (probably the only Mississippian posting), which is just outside of New Orleans (where we don't mind cheering for the Saints this year!!!)and our biggest claim to fame recently is that Bay Saint Louis was ground zero for Hurricane Katrina last year. The eye plowed right through here people! As I write this we still do not have floors or furniture...but we do have our computer and DSL connection! We are coming back strong around here and will be better than ever!
