hey,

the other day I was visiting www.mania.com and it had
an article "7 Movies That Make A Grown Man Cry". in it,
they give seven films whose endings affect even the most
hard, macho individual. they are:

KING KONG-Death scene
RED DAWN-Father asks to be avenged before dying
TERMINATOR 2-Arnold giving the thumbs up before melting
STAR TREK 2-Spock dies
RETURN OF THE JEDI-Vader dies
GOONIES-"It's our time."
ET-ET bids goodbye before leaving

I was a bit affected at the end of JEDI, T2 and STAR
TREK 2, but I admit without shame that at the end of
KING KONG (the most recent one) and ET, I bawled my
eyes out like a baby. Not having seen RED DAWN or
GOONIES, I can't make a judgement. anyone here agree
or have a film not mentioned that they cried at?
if anyone is interested, the link is the following:

I agree with the list but I would have added a few more, such as: I am Legend with Will Smith was pretty sad when his dog "Sam" died. Old Yeller was also a sad one (I don't expect anyone under 40 to remember that movie). And what about Twilight? When I saw how they made Vampires into glowing little creampuffs I bawled my eyes out, Where was Dracula when you need him?

I had a date, somewhat recently, who decided to drag me out to see Couple Retreat. Holy god, that was so horrid. I mean seriously, when a story brings about the man vs man arguement..... You would expect there to be some fists flyin, maybe some cussin, a gun or two....... But NO, they broke out Guitar Hero for their duel. Complete crap.

Also, throw in Xmen 3. That was crappy enough to cry over.

This is not a list of crappy movies that made you cry... it is about movies that actually touched you emotionally and made you cry.

Ooops forgot to comment.

I do not think I have cried in a movie since Old Yeller. As for "I am legend" I saved my girlfriend from an emotional break down because I called doggie death 5 minutes into the movie. She said if she wasn't ready for the movie that she would have totally lost it. Women... But yes, it was very sad.
Yeah, I just don't think I have cried. Movies are so predictable now that they just aren't sad.

Here is my take on these movies.

KING KONG-Death scene (Haha Monkey fall down go boom, Maybe because King kong was so iconic, I was neither surprised or upset when this occured, I even thought the chick was a little crazy for being upset.)
RED DAWN-Father asks to be avenged before dying (the dad was a douche)
TERMINATOR 2-Arnold giving the thumbs up before melting (pure corn, Hasta la vista, baby!)
STAR TREK 2-Spock dies (if he has green blood why were his cuts and bruishes purple and red?)
RETURN OF THE JEDI-Vader dies (At first I thought it was cool, good guys win, then the showed him beside the other jedi's like OB1 and Yoda and I was a little pissed. So you can get to be a total jackstick Mofo and then turn half decent for the last 5 min and boom he gets to be a good guy. and really, do we know his motivation. He was after all a dark sith lord. He could have very well thought this was his big chance to get a promotion by offing the old man but ended up getting ganked himself and then figured. what the hell, I'll give my kid a little something nice since I cut off his fucking hand and murdered his adoptive parent and teacher)
GOONIES-"It's our time." (corn)
ET-ET bids goodbye before leaving (I think I may have cried when I was a small child, when I first saw it, I watched it again a few years ago, eh, it was kinda boring)

Maybe this is a list of movies that girly men cry at.

I was just letting people know... just in case they didn't know.

So... last night T2 was on...

"TERMINATOR 2-Arnold giving the thumbs up before melting"

I didn't cry...but I did laugh thinking about this thread. I really think that would have been a lot more sad if they would have cast a better kid. That kid in that show ruined it.

are you kiddin me? these are action films. in order to cry over the tradegy of a character you have to be emotionally atteched to them on some level. while i have on occassion shed tears of joy at triumphs over extreme odds [especially in the LOTR trilogy] i have yet to find the loss of any character in any action film worth the salt. time to man up gents. lol

Schlinder's List and Hotel Rwanda, and A Lesson Before Dying made me cry like a baby. I have only seen them once because if I see them again I will cry like a baby. Oh I forgot Glory and Saving Private Ryan also always get me at the end.

I'm with Starchild on this one. If it's something that hits me like the underdog heroes triumphing against hopeless odds or a powerful example of unity and patriotism like the president's speach to gather all the countries of Earth to fight together against the aliens in Independence Day then I'm likely to well up and choke back a tear or two, but I never have and never will cry over that ET goes home s**t.

The end of Return Of The Jedi gets me teary-eyed because it's the last of the good trilogy and what followed was tripe in comparison.

I agree with Yunners in regard to the Star Wars Tragedy. Also add Titanic (dead babies always get to me),Passion of the Christ (the scene where Jesus fall while carrying the crucifix and Mother Mary feels the helplessness of being unable to rush to his side while remembering the time he fell as a child), John Q with Denzel Washington and lastly, The Pursuit of Happyness with Will Smith,

screw that. none of the movies listed so much as made me tear up, in fact few of the movies listed in this thread got so much as a swellin in the heart...... but lets take some movies like "The Patriot" and "Signs" with Mel Gibson. Two particular scenes stuck with me.
1. "The Patriot" when the red-coats kill his boy....... moving.
2. "Signs" the scene where his wife dies... moving. O.K. so Mel Gibson is a bit of a
douche..ah so what....his acting is supreme.... and then there's Will Smith in "Hancock" right
right there close to the end, struggling to his feet so he could save Charlize Theron's character
and himself from dying.... very moving.

of course there's those listed in the thread...
1. The Pursuit of Happiness
2. John Q
3. I Am Legend
all brought a bit of a tear.
