Oh, yeah; I've seen this a couple of times 
Funny thing: in the recent Superman:Doomsday animated movie, there is a scene where Superman fights a giant mechanical spider made by the Toyman.
When the fight is over, there is a person in the crowd below who says "yeah, like we needed Superman to fight a giant spider".
In the credits you find out that "Grumpy Man" is played by Kevin Smith
