I'll refrain from commenting on the first. The second I thought was well done and a good starting point for a franchise. The third captured the actual essence of who and what the Punisher is though in my opinion. With the second, it showed the revenge story that started him on this path that he walks. The third showed where that path has lead him. He was no longer the father and husband out to make the people who killed is family pay. He was a stone-cold murderer. Not a killer. A murderer who was out to kill anyone who lived outside the law. The scene where he shoots that guy in the face with a shotgun while he's holding a little girl in his other arm IN FRONT OF A FBI AGENT NO LESS perfectly sums up the essence of who and what the Punisher is and how he operates.
