for those of you interested in what happened.
It all started with the server that HM is on, it got overloaded by the web host guys. this caused the mysql database to go insane. and caused the site to shut down. during this time the site appeared as only the theme. Then as the server guys did there thing to unload the server, the site started coming back. but the site was crippled, but it was back on.
The server guys finished but the site still didn't work. it seems that xoops (the program that runs the site) create some new template files during the crippled phase of the site. To restore HM I had to find the corrupted template files and remove them. And them boom the site came back.
