You definitely came to the right place! Welcome.
Skurge and Winterhawk are right, of course, but don't tell hawk...it'll go straight to his head.

Should help a lot of 3Ders find stuff out there.
As for taking years to get good...nah! Pshaww...
I personally love seeing new stuff from new artists, and you can always pick the brains of some of the great ones here to help your progression. (Lord knows I learn something from them every day.)
I'm looking forward to seeing what you can do.
