Given most of the members here probably like comics I thought I would start a thread with recommendations on where to buy comics over the Internet (sometimes your local store is sold out, or just charging too much).

(Surprisingly) My biggest recommendation goes to eBay. Some of the sellers try really hard to get the positive feedback.

?wizarduniverse? ? I think these guys spent threes times more on postage and packing than what they charged me.

?superheroesunlimited? ? decent prices for rare comics.

?rgourd1954? ? some of the comics weren?t in great condition (others were NM), but the fastest postage I have ever seen and cheap!

?actionfigureexpress? ? again affordable and quick delivery.

Also a positive mention for cornerstorecomics.com
They sell action figures, statues etc. Good range, reliable and good discounts.

A lukewarm recommendation for milehighcomics.com

The range is big and website is good, though searching can be difficult and not all comics have images. The prices are really high so you need to sign up and wait for a good special to get reasonable prices.

The main problem with these guys is that their postage seems to take at least three times longer than anyone else using the same method.

A big thumbs down for:

The Top Cow online comics store.
Scottscomics

Basically both these places are good at taking your money and nothing else. With both these places they charged my credit card straight away but didn't process the order until a month later. In that time some of the comics I ordered had sold out, but neither company tried contacting me to advise of the change. Shipping isn't cheap with these places either.

Oh, and I recommend me! I'm selling my old X-Men comics and some others to make room, if anyone is looking. Only satisfied customers so far!

And big thanks to Daruma who helped me out last month by taking the time and effort to post some comics that a seller wouldn't post internationally. Thanks Dar!

I found that Midtown Comics is good for new comics. Their selection of older comics is not great but all comics are discounted and come bagged and boarded.

I have't read a comic book in more that 15 years... so I have no clue.

There's a wide and diverse assortment of comics up inside my ass. My ass has a vast collection of the comics you want and need!

Storing comics in your (or anybody's) ass devalues them greatly.

I disagree. The pages won't yellow and stain up there. It's like a vault. I got my stock portfolio and ten grand in cash up there too. Safe and sound.

Sometimes you get more information than one could possibly want to know.

When I want to buy a comic. I go to a comic store as an added bonus I do not pay shipping and handling and I get it right away.

Most of the comic shops here are actually Magic the Gathering shops that sell a small rack of comics. I haven't really looked into online comic shops, but I've gotten lucky a few times on amazon.com

There are NO comic book shops in my town or even within 75 miles of my town. I don't buy as many comics as I used to, but when I do buy I have to do it online.

The sad fact is with Diamond Distribution being the only game in town for comic shops to order from, the price of running a comic shop can really suck.

As of 2 yrs ago, Diamond Distribution required a $500 a week miniumum order from a store to even be considered. A starting discount on comics with a minimum order is 35 percent. Keep in mind it all has to be cash up front.

Diamond's numbers state that over the past 7 years there has been a 40% reduction in stores nationwide.

Larger stores use the internet to sell or presell stuff, which is dangerous as well. Resolicites and cancellations on books can become an accounting nightmare. Some artists (Jim Lee) are slow to get things out. (All Star Batman is WAY behind and anything past 3 mos. gets cancelled by Diamond as a general policy. Cancelled books can be resolicited at a later date.)

I used to manage a comic shop in the early 90's and still maintain a relationship with the store to this day. My goal is to open a store by 2011. They're willing to add me as a satalite store so I can get on their discount whish is 50% based on thier order numbers. But that's a few years off.
