Just got done watching it. It is a pretty good movie, but varied too much from the orginal storyline. It is ok to watch, but not own.

This movie absolutely trashed one of the greatest storylines there is. This movie had basically nothing to do with the Death of Superman. After a few brief minutes of Doomsday, with no backstory at all, it went wildly off kilter, and never came back. Needless to say, I could rant forever, and viscously curse this movie. Nothing but junk as far as I'm concerned.

I too would have loved to see more back story to Domsday, not to mention Steel, Superboy, Last Son of Krypton and the Cyborg. It would have been better if it did follow the storyline.

when the comics came out we knew absolutely nothing about doomsday. Nada zero zilch.
he popped out of a container buried deep underground. started killing shit on a cross country trip to Metropolis.
It wasn't until a couple years afterwards that we learned about doomsdays past in a separate series and Superman, the Cyborg Superman, and Doomsday all went up against each other.
The death of Superman story line in the comics was not much of a story line at all.
Doomsday come, doomsday kicks justice leagues ass. Doomsday kills Superman at the same time he dies. I find it hard to believe that anyone could screw up that story line, because their really wasn't one.

I also saw the movie. It wasn't so much the actual death of Superman that they messed up (that was actually pretty close to the comics, but too short), it was after his death that was mostly all wrong.

Not having the four Supermen (Steel, Superboy, the Eradicator, and Cyborg) really kinda ruined the movie for me.

I'm more inclined to agree with Hawk. I remember when CNN and every news channel on the planet had to make a big deal out of The death of Superman. And I also remember my gramps saying "This would be what? His 6th death now?" And then I remember the radio goin on and on about "The first 500 callers get a free copy of Spin Doctors new cd along with a free copy of The Death of Superman!!" Don't you think there's something wrong when everybody and their mother is giving away free copies?

The last time I checked the damn comic wasn't even worth the cover price. But hey, I go and check it out anyways. And all I saw was Supes got clocked in the mouth and the next thing I know his old man is like his spiritual guide through heaven and crap.

I think it was an improvement on the original comic, like all of Bruce Timm's adaptations.
