Anyone else watching? Got the 1 episode to see what was like and its not all bad. It does rewrites future history and terminates the 3rd movie (event from the 3rd movie did happen in other words) Think it will be interesting to see how the series progresses

Well ,I think the new series is quite awesomely well done!
I always love this stuff where the future is liquid and ever changing!
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
And as much as you try and change the past the future is reshaped also?
Lots of room for all sorts of new material.

Actually it's the pre-air pilot for the Sarah Connor Chronicles. This is not the same as what you saw on-air which was edited to make it more acceptable to family viewing.

Just a thought:
If I knew I was destined to be the military rebel leader of the freeworld in a dystopian future.
And, if I knew I had to stay off the "Grid" in the present to enhance my future survivability, Why the Hell would I worry about going to High School?

Just asking!

I like the show, the idea of having a teenage female terminator is an interesting one to say the least.

If killer robot Terminators all looked as good as Summer Glau,
then we?d be running with open arms towards Judgment Day.
But till that mushroom-clouded day comes,
your best chance of meeting the actress who plays the arousing
automaton on ?Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles? will be at
Wizard World Los Angeles on Saturday, March 15.
Glau will be on hand for special signings and more at the LA Convention Center!

Summer Glau (?Firefly?) as
the latest cybernetic model designed to protect John Connor from harm.

I went in and read several times and I know my training helped because of all the martial arts.
That?s a big part of what I do, in terms of character.

For terminator fans I recommend the graphic novel Terminator: One Shot.

It's very old now, but a really good story and added a lot to the first movie storyline.

hey all.

I am liking the Sarah Connor Chronicles. I like the
concept "what goes on after T2 finishes?" so it started
out as being between T2 and T3, but when Sara leapt
ahead and cheated Death it is now an AU story. clever.
Summer is perfect as Cameron. The seemingly childlike
innocent demeanor hides a kickass fighting machine.
I dig the series so far and hope for a long, successful
run.

I met Summer at our annual Dragon*Con convention in Atlanta last year, she is quite cute and very friendly. I think she's doing a great job on the show.

There are some things about the show that need commenting on, all my opinions:

1) Although the idea of a sexy, tiny little teenage female model has kick-ass strong female "titillation" opportunities for the TV show, in all practicality wouldn't you really want a more massive male version as your protector? Just from a sheer power standpoint, due to the increased mass and heavier-duty capabilities that a larger model would imply, and I can't see SkyNet sending back little tiny sexy teen terminators to off John. And I just can't see Cameron being able to rip a bank vault door apart in any believable way.

2) We have seen that Cameron can heal, I wondered about this, since the prior Terminator movies used the battle damage makeup to great advantage. I don't suppose it would have been practical to have Cameron just get more beaten up from episode to episode. Of course she has managed to survive long enough to have time to heal, and it can't be assumed that the Arnold models couldn't, since they never really had time to heal.

3) The show has had some great lines. "I call shotgun." "I call 9 millimeter." And so forth.

4) At some point Sarah needs to lighten up on Cameron. I think she has been just plain mean to her, and she needs to realize that Cameron is there to help. She's not the enemy.

Interesting points Wasmith, but I came to different conclusions:

1. Bigger isn't necessarily stronger. As long as there is enough room in the frame to put servos in place the strength should be the same. In fact the larger models have to move heavier frames around so they may have a lower power-to-weight ratio.

2. I think it was noted in T2 that the skin can heal. Which is weird, so the skin, eyes etc are living on top of the skeleton. How do they get fed?
And if only living matter can come back in time, how did the morphing terminators in 2 and 3 make it back? they had no living skin.

3. I'm waiting for "I'll be back".

4. I hope it is kept clear Cameron is a machine and has no emotions. Keep treating it like a machine... and don't have it falling in 'love' or anything stupid like that. In fact before we found out she was a cyborg I think she had too much personality.

Your #2 made me rethink the point of the terminator's head coming through the time portal with John, Sarah and Cameron when they escaped from the bank vault. How did the head come through? It had all the skin blasted from it....

As for the big male vs tiny female terminator "size and power" debate, consider a Ford Escort traveling east at 40 MPH and a Ford Explorer traveling west on a collision course at 40 MPH. Which one you wanna be in?

OK...this is on televison to keep our interest up for another 'Terminator' movie...right?

Isn't Arnie getting a little long in the tooth for this?

Re: Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
Consider that flesh is just window dressing. The true strength is in the skeleton. Compare the size and wieght of a female vs a male skeleton. There is a great deal of empty space. The difference will not be that great, even if the skeletons are of a metal alloy. To compare them against a Escort/Explorer isn't valid.

As for sending only flesh through, the easiest explaination is that "things changed" due to the alterations of the time stream. My personal feelings is that Hollywood writers are sloppy and ignore things that stand in the way of a "good story". This tends to ruin movies and shows in the long run.

hey,

I saw the first episode of the second season of SCC and it was quite
entertaining. well-paced. good action and a nice twist or two. I
will not spoil the twist given many may have not seen it, but let's
just say that GARBAGE frontwoman Shirley Manson pays homage to T2.

<soapbox> For a concept with powerful potential, it's only taken two episodes this season to become unwatchable. If this is how John Conner, the future of mankind, is written; mankind deserves to be replaced. Not even simply watching for the sake of watching Summer Glau and Shirley Manson can save this wreck.</soapbox>

hey J,

I suppose John does come across as being henpecked. I
guess the idea is the he is supposed to go from neb to
kickass leader though I suppose he could be given more
of a spine. there are 13 episodes so give it time. I
like Ryan although it would not surprise me if Cameron
decides at some point that she is a liability that needs
to be eliminated. and if so, I also don't see Sarah
shedding too many tears. this coming episode should be
interesting: how Cameron came to be. just think there
could be a future where there are no Terminators and
Cameron is a real flesh-and-blood person.

First of all I want to say that I really like this show, but the 3rd movie doesn't exist in the TV series as a future, only the first two exist (the dates between the series and the 3rd movie doesn't match)... so we can say that the future is change again!

I don't think he's henpecked, I think he's a moron.
Being raised as he has been, absolutely knowing what he knows, and as old as he his; he should seem odd, but much more mature than he is written. At this rate he'll end up more of an accidental hero than a born leader. The kid as written in T2 had more on the ball than this one ever will.

hey troops,

been a while since we talked about this. just saw tonight's ep
where John and crew are in Mexico. won't spoil the plot for
those who haven't seen it, but one scene has a clever homage to
the police station scene in the original TERMINATOR movie. it
would seem that, to borrow the wrestling announcer JR's quote,
busine is finally picking up. thoughts?
