I think it looks pretty good. I have heard that it is a significant change from the original movie as it doesn't have anything to do with Mars. Not that it matters, but as for acting anything will be better then Arnnie's acting "I consider that a divorce".

When I was young I am fairly sure I had read We Can Remember It For You Wholesale before Total Recall was released. Thing is I didn't pick up on the connection until someone told me about it or I noticed it in the credits. They changed the story, it was an old book and hard to find and not many people knew of it. The movie-makers had made something (mostly) original and delivered it to a different audience. You can get Total Recall on DVD, there's nothing wrong with the movie, they could just re-release it in 3D. I don't see the point of remaking movies that were perfectly good and aren't that old. See also: Robocop, Spider-man and a hundred other re-makes.
Then again, maybe the trailer is a misdirection, the rest of the new movie may be completely different with a new story worth seeing.

personally i think its just so they can see how much of an upgrade they can provide the movie using CG. think about it..only big budget movies that used huge FX have been re-made. the others they just re-release.

See the way I look at it is that it was a good movie in spite of Arnold. That dude really can't act.

this is true but some movies have been good a vast majority of his was worth the money"except kindergarten cop and the one with the magic movie screen those sucked"
I remember seeing the Arnold version in the theater back in highschool. Later I found out it was book by Piers Anthony. Who got permission from Phillip K. Dick to expand on "We Can Remember it for you Wholesale".
While I'm not happy that Hollywood has developed a habit of throwing the source material out the window and doing what they please. I have learned the value of divorcing myself from the originals and judging the movie on it's own merit. Case in point: I Robot. The movie has absolutely NOTHING to do with the book. But it was still fairly decent.
well remember irobot was a movie made from the book nobody ever follows the book but a great movie total recall has already been made as have willie wonka and conan the remakes of the last 2 sucked wind from what i heard i hated charlie and the chocolate factory
1st: Thayne, thank you for proving that you really do know completely random shit that is pretty impressive. I have never even heard of that book... but now I am going to hunt it down.

Conan wasn't bad, but man, Arnold was the man. As for Charlie and the Chocolate factory. The first one was sooo much better than the second one. There was conflict and morals to be taught... And the Oompa Loompas had personalities and were all different. The re-make... I like Depp, so I thought he did a good job acting like a total nut (like he does in almost all his parts) But the music was, MEH, and all the Oompa Loompas were the same dude. It wasn't bad, but it can't compare to the original. With that said... Vash... you are a NUT for not liking Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Here: Original Wonka. Man, they call the kid fat. That ROCKS.
OR
Remake: YAWN... catchy, but
Wait... what was this thread about. I think I just hijacked my own thread.

So you didn't hate the original Wonka? If that is what you are saying then PHEW... I thought there was going to be trouble with you.
However... if you did hate it then SHAME on you!!!
I actually like the original Conan's story better than the new one. So, there is another reason why the new one wasn't as good. PLUS, I would expect Conan to have an accent of some kind... not perfect engrish. Now that I am talking about it... yeah, the new Conan did suck.

In the original Conan Arnold had to do his own stunts. This included having vicious dogs chase him and having a live vulture peck at him. Then he bit into a real dead vulture. I don't think many actors would do that now.
the original willie wonka ruled gene wilder made it even more awesome arnold as conan was great i loved it never saw the remakes to me its like remaking back to the future with shew lebuff just wouldnt work
