Nothing like taking the 8th wonder of the world away form his home and having him killed. And why is it that all the natives were eaten by Kong when offered as sacrafice... but Fay Wray, Jessica Lang, and Naomi Watts all become his love intrest? I don't get it... DIE MONKEY! (no offense DM)

Hey! I resent that jr! In fact, all forms of Monkeycide is horrible. The big boy just wanted some alone time with his girl, and he gets shot. I have heard of Shotgun weddings...but when you bring in the airforce, you've taken it too far. Oh, and Jr... there's more than one way to eat a girl.  And King Kong looks like A.Serkis 'cus he's related to Gollum. Only bigger and furrier. Though I think he looks more like Peter Jackson.

Thayne, it even set the standards for future Stop motion animations Like Clash of the Titans, Jason and the Agurnaughts, and that one Sinbad movie......then came CGI lol

My thoughts:
First 45 minutes, maybe a little too long.
Naomi Watts/Kong relationship, very well done, believable.
Skull Island, Awesome! T-Rex Smackdown, Awesome! Big ugly bugs, yuck. Heeby Jeebies.
Kong climbs empire State Building, Awesome! I was actually sweating, as I am not a big fan of heights. Worth it just for the end sequence.

The lady that wrote Kong said that he actually represents the depression and when he dies it is AMerica beating the evil depression. She said that she didn't know how it became a sad love story.  Stupid FOckin Monkey.

Just watched Kong. I thought with the big ape and special effects, this one needed to be watched on the big screen. Everything BB said was true. Except I got sick and tired of the girl/ape relationship at the end when they milked it for 45 minutes. In that time the chick had maybe 4 or 5 lines, the rest was spent looking teary eyed at Kong. It gave me a sick feeling after awhile. Aside from that, the movie did excel at the special effects. Kong looked realistic, the characters were believable. I just sorta was wishing at the end that the chick would die.

Went with RJ to see it last night. The above statement is still true........... As well as the statement that I hated the story as a child, and still do. That being said, the graphics were insane! And the T-Rex fights were pretty killer! I was all WoWed when he broke one's jaw and shoved it's snout into it's eyeballs. The only other saving grace this movie had for me was the fact they kept having to do over head shots on a woman that was built quite nicely  So to recap......... Great FX, nice fight, hot chick. Story sucks.
