I understand where you're coming from, but there's a problem.
She is supposed to be Wonder Woman and not Girl, she's also not supposed to be Wonder Grandma.
At 38 years old and counting as we speak, Lawless may just end up looking too old by the time filming would start to realistically play the ageless immortal Amazon Princess. Remember we're talking not just one film, but potentially a franchise. And if the lead actress has too many age lines you're gonna be better off casting her for Hippolyta instead, otherwise we might as well just say screw it and go with Lynda Carter.
I think logistically you're best off looking for a mid to late 20ish (to early 30ish at the oldest) actress to play Diana. Any younger and you're getting into "Buffy the Amazing Amazon" territory and that's too Wonder Girl-ish.
I always thought Marina Sirtis (Troi from ST:TNG) would have made a good choice, but I thought that back when TNG started. These days she just looks way too old.
Diana must appear young, vital, and ageless. The problem arises when a real flesh and blood actress has to play the role.

Krasch Buddy ,she's called WonderWOMAN not GIRL!
If she's to young then she's not a WOMAN but more of a GIRL!
So I think by saying some of the candidates are to old that in itself is just silly because in reality she was created from clay as a full blown WOMAN and never being a Girl!
Enough of that Rant,so on to another!?!
