As a few of you already know, I've been looking high and low for tutorials on how to mimic REALISTIC looking fabric and/or material textures using Photoshop. Currently, I am using Photoshop CS2. If you know of any tutorials or are willing to create one, PLEASE POST IT HERE.

In our very own toolbox thread, there is a link to a site called good-tutorials.com

On that site I did a search for clothes and it gave me a tutorial on how to paint realistic blue jeans. All I can really remember was something about grass. Either a grass filter or whatever using a pic of grass. Anyways, check out the tool box thread. You might find another site listed there that might do ya some good.

Thanks, I'll check it out. I'm actually looking for a tut on how to simulate a crochet pattern like in the pics below. I wonder if I could just copy the pattern of her bikini over the original pic i'm using and basically follow the same instructions as the She-hulk tutorial... I'll have to give it a try.

Woah! To go from fabric to a crocheted bikini is quite a leap. You likely won't find something specific enough to get you all the way to where you are going. Luckily there is a pattern to something crocheted, so you could probably start by looking for a method to create a pattern.

Can I just copy a piece of crocheted material and save it to my patterns folder? Would that work?

BTW: I have an unrelated question:
I've tried to add a manip of the she-hulk that I did ( my first attempt) to the Marvel Character's Gallery today, but I can't locate it. Does it take a few days being screened before it is posted on the site?

It could, but it depends on what you do next... give it a try.

I was thinking: Copy a piece of crochet material, save it as a pattern, then on the image use the crochet pattern and ( to change the color) add a colored layer mask to it, set the hue to hard light ( so it would keep the original's details while changing the color-- like the tut on how to make she-hulk). OR, I wonder if I could just do it the old fashioned way: Copy and paste a portion of a crochet image directly to a new layer over say, the bikini area, and adjust the size and shape by just using Elipt tool, free transform/warp/distort and the eraser. That way, I should be able to achieve a realistic crochet material look with less effort. Atleast I hope so.

My boy, Geldrith from Loreleiweb.com just hooked me up with a tut on crochet patterns so i thought I'd share. Here's the link.

I'll also start a new thread specifically for crochet pattern tuts.
Enjoy!

merged forum threads into one as they are basically the same topic.

Fabric tutorials and Crochet tuorials threads are now a single thread.
