Not sure if this has already been discussed. I'm looking for any site ( preferrably NOt pornographic) that has High Quality pics of men and woman. I've already visited the U.S. version of www.theplace.ru but haven't really found anything all that great ( for me anyway). So does anyone want to share where they get their hot looking HIGH QUALITY images? I'd really appreciate it.

IF I don't find a High Quality image, I simply blow the image up to the size I want it and then get busy with the path tool and the smudge tool. Any image can be HQ with a little TLC.

Yeah, but while I practice with those tools, I don't want my manip projects to suffer setback. What i've done up til now is simply to enlarge the image size and despeckle to reduce the . But that doesn't increase the resolution quality. That's why if possible, I'd rather find professional looking pics that are already large with very good resolution like stock photos .... but for free.

Learning the technique that Jr describes is worth more than the free high quality image source you seek. In a short time not only will you gain improvement, but you will no longer be limited by the images you find.

Amen Bio.

Yes, The pen tool and the smudge brush will make any image "HQ"
Take this one for instance...
http://heromorph.com/heromorph2/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=2174
The original image of this was around 600pxl wide. I simply Enlarged the image... both in DPI and Screen Resolution (they do go hand in hand... kinda) then I laid a path all the way around her body, created a selection, and got to smudging. In a matter of an hour or so she was nice and clean and High Res.

Sometimes manips take time... none of your manips will suffer a setback.... they will just take a td bit longer to complete... and that isn't a bad thing.

DERn, this is a nice one!

And I DO understand what you and Bio are saying about not limiting myself. But see, I've only "smudged-up" pics --very messy-- using the smudge tool. I dont know how to use it delicately, as you obviously can. My trials with the smudge tool leave the image looking like a wet painting after somebody rubs their finger across it. I know, I know! that's why I have to practice/experiment with it, right? i'll give it a few more tries, but in the meantime, i'd still like to take the easy route of finding a site that provides the high res model images for me... @ least until I get better with the smudge tool. btw: Is the Path Tool the same as the Pen Tool? Cuz I've been using the Pen tool to cut out my models from their original pics.

Google image search. that is if you know the models name.

use the advanced settings and turn off filtering and large images only. That is where I get most of my stuff.

also find the old manipers toolbox thread. some of the links are old and out of date but it still has some good ones.

You mean the Hardness? Can't the same effect be acheived by using the blur tool with the hardness turned down, or by Gaussian Blurring the selected image or by just despeckling it to reduce the graininess? or does the smudge tool have an added benefit? My goal isn't simply to "blur" the pixels for a "soft" look. I want the image to be crystal clear and sharp but without being pixelated and grainy. Like, I wanna be able to see the details clearly -- for instance, if the lady has tiny blond hairs on her arm, I wanna be able to see them. if I simply enlarge an image and blur it i wont be able to see such detail.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try it. The hard part is knowing the various models names. besides, some of the most beautiful models may not be very well-known yet.

Hardness and softness refer to your brush... you should use a soft brush btw... Strength is specifically a setting for the smudge tool. What the smudge tool gives you that other methods don't is control.

I sense laziness. Well, you will have to find some really HIgh Res picts to show off their arm hair. I guess your idea of a manip and mine are different... it is about the manip of the image... not the detail of the arm hair on the girl. Even if I found a poster size image of a girl on the web... the arm hair will be gone because I clean up all my images. That is the least bit of your problems.

Also, do my images look "Blurry"? You need to veer away from the easy "filter" and start maniping... actually hand painting stuff. And no, we do not mean hardness. When you select the Smudge tool, the Opacity is in the option window at the top of the work area... reduce that and you won't smudge everything to death... also, work in small circles when smudging to clean up... it keeps all the pixels where they need to be.

But I guess for the time being use Hawk'sa method, it sounds like that is more of what you are looking for.

My idea of a manip is to take a person and make them look as REALISTIC in their superclothes as possible. While many manips look beautifully done ( smooth skin and all) they tend to look a bit airbrushed. That's great for magazines and posters, but I want my manips ( and I know I still have a LONG way to go) to look like the person was right in front of me dressed in the costume and I snapped a pic of them with a high quality camera. My goal isn't necessarily to produce the most beautiful and perfect manips but rather to produce the most realistic looking ones that I can.

If that is your intent then why do your images look over filtered and under worked. From the way you talk, you would think your great but your best image is just average. Your ego seems to be far bigger then your skill at manips and when someone gives you an honest critique you come up with excuses of why your mediocre image is great. When it obviously is not.

Being that I am still on probation, I will reply in a more mature manner. Perhaps, you woke up a bit grumpy and in the mood to pick a fight. Therefore i will excuse your presumptuousness this time.
Perhaps you should have taken the time to read my last post IN ITS ENTIRETY, ......go ahead, read it again; I'll wait....... Now, hopefully, THIS TIME you didn't miss the part where I modestly stated regarding my manipping skills: "I know I still have a LONG way to go." Just because my "idea of a manip" is for it to be very realistic, that doesn't mean that I am stating that my manips are that way....yet. That is simply my goal, to be able EVENTUALLY, to produce manips of that quality. Therefore, you wrongly assumed that I have an ego regarding my skills. Honestly, I don't get where you got the idea that i feel that I'm so great. See what happens when you ASSUME?
Critique? I welcome it. That's how I've been learning and how I've gotten this far. So yes, as long as it's critique and not mean-spirited belittling, I look forward to it.
Now, you are correct in stating that my skills are mediocre. But being that I have only first started using computer art programs less than a year ago and with no training, I think I'm doing pretty well thus far. Infact, even tho I am still very new to manipping, I have noticed that there are quit a few manips submitted (sorry guys) that are ALOT worst than mine. And they've been manipping for much longer than I have. Therefore, I am confident that WITH TIME, I will be among the ranks of THE FEW great manippers here at heromorph such as JrMcDeath and others. Funny tho,... I checked to see YOUR art skills Captain Crunch, ...sorry, couldn't help it.... and I haven't found any manips posted by you ... hmmm? Makes me wonder... how come? Do YOU have any manipping skills so that you can critique MY new and still-developing manipping skills? Well, hopefully you do. and hopefully theyre better than mine. If so, great! But if not.... then you obviously wouldnt be qualified to speak about my skills, now would you? Oh, and smile. being a grump will only add wrinkles.

Okay, okay... lets get this derailed train back on track....

If you are really interested in photo-real manips starting with Vincent's tutorials in our tutorial section would be the way to go.

Vincent is brilliant... but this still is not going to help with the "I want to see arm hair" problem. You really need to take baby steps... 1st step... quit being lazy and set up your images to "clean " them up. Even Playboy still airbrushes their images... most women don't want arm hair showing... at least that seems to be the idea from my last two girlfriends....

Get your images.... enlarge them to a size you want them... then get your smudge tool out and knock out all of the dirty pixels. YOu will be amazed at how NOT being lazy can pay off.

And please... do not try to bullshit a bullshitter... no excuses... just do it.
