I have a series of 4 drawings that I have been working on for a year. They in pencil, with a lot of shading, but I want to color them. The color will all be from the 3 light sources. I thought about using markers but it seems a little messy. Any suggestions?
P.S. I do not have access to a computer to do any photoshop stuff on these.

Photocopy them.
Then experiment by colouring the copies.
Cheap and you can always start again until you find what you like.

This is a tough assignment you have chosen for yourself. There are a number of ways you can proceed. Chilly's suggestion would be a good way to do color studies to plan where you want to go with the piece, but wouldn't work well to do a finished piece. Copies are not generally of very high quality. The best way in my opinion would be to use some tracing paper and transfer the basic drawing onto some canvas/board/watercolor paper and start fresh with some paint. But if you absolutely have to color over your pencil drawings (I hate the idea of potentially destroying all that work) seal that pencil to the paper with a workable art sealant, and then color with a media that doesn't break down that seal. If you don't seal it or once the seal is solved your art will turn to mud.

Thanx Bio I'll try that last one. I already tried Chilly's advice before I even posted, but I don't draw dark enough to really show up (it was mostly white). I also thought about scanning the pic into a computer and printing. Would that be better than xerox?

Not if you are set on coloring with real media.

?

Are you saying that's cheating? Or that it won't look good?

I'm saying it won't look good. I'm not sure there is such a thing as cheating when doing art.

Cheating is okay (probably), stealing is not.

I didn't think it would be cheating; I already did the work myself. I just want to get the look I want. I can't do it painting 'cuz I suck at that. I figure colored pencils won't look good either, not on regular pencil.
And stealing is definitely not okay, I don't even trace unless it's my own work.
