OK, I like that he's not playing it 100% straight as long as the writers didn't overdo the jokes. It's ok to have a sense of humor in superhero movies just don't make the characters and the situations they're in a joke, eg. Batman and Robin.

yeah, i'm really hopeful that this movie will drag the comic book movie medium out of the gutter. hopefully it will make up for X-men 3 and Spiderman 3.

hopefully.

but yeah, on the casting issue, i rather enjoy Downey as Stark, mainly cause the guy has the character down pat, as seen in the trailers.

and Chilly, according to the book adaptation i read earlier, the replusor tech is used both for flying AND blasting shit.

so its not that far off.

all in all, suprisingly hopeful.

OK, I just watched a long as trailer at 1080i resolution and at 1920x1200 and I now have to admit that I am really looking forward to seeing it. It will still probably suck... but the effects are pretty bad ass... and Downey is still a douche!

Apparently Robert Downey Jr once got caught with a hooker wearing a Wonder Woman outfit (the hooker was wearing it, not him).

I think that makes him both very weird and very cool.

Loved it, the time just flew by.
It seemed they used more real props than CGI, I liked that.
I don't want to say anything else in case I spoil it.

Make sure you wait until the end of the credits for a very cool extra!

Saw it Friday after work 04/02/08 5:15pm.
And I would saw it's most likely the best of the Superhero movies.
Great casting.
Highly recommended.

If you don't like Iron Man, check your pulse. You're probably dead.

I was a bit concerned about Downey being cast for Iron Man at the time it was announced. Then I rented Kiss, Kiss Bang, Bang. That completely changed my mind.

They did a lot of things right with this film. Plenty of nods to the hardcore fans and made his origin more 'timely'. 'They even named the organization the Ten Rings. Mandarin nod. ' The effects were awesome and lots of physical props, so it wasn't too CGI. The marketing and blog that Favreau did brought the comic fans in and got the positive internet buzz rolling.

I really enjoyed hating Jeff Bridges. 'I did want him to say "It's all in the wrist" at some point, but that's just me.' He pulled of the @$$hole thing very well.

JR, your comment on Samuel L as Fury... you need to read the Ultimates. The first two series are great! I can't thing of a 'cracker' that can pull off being as bad ass as Nick Fury. Who did you want, Hasslelhoff? If they were to do the Avengers Movie, they would need to set it up in an Ultimates Universe setting. In the Ultimates Universe, the Avengers are created to deal with terrorist threats that the government can't quite handle. That concept is pretty easy to grasp and would work well as a theme in a movie.

And, for the love of God, watch all of the credits.

****Mr. Spoiler on the loose, fool****

Just got back from the movie theatre with Buffy. After it was over Buffy said "He wears nice suits" and I responded "Are you nutz?!?!! He freakin out ran 2 fighter jets AND juked a missile!!!"

On the 3D computer design thingy he was using....... I saw a pen in his hand and thought if Wacom gets ambitious I'm breaking my piggy bank.

As to Downey playing Stark. I had no doubt from the beginning. I have always thought if you want someone to play the part of an asshole, you hire an asshole. And before you ask "If you don't like him, why'd you go?" I wanted to see if they'd do it right or screw with it.

But anyways, yeah. I plan on ownin it.

hey all,

I saw the film as well and enjoyed it. contrary to belief, Hilary Swank
was not in it as Black Widow, but I heard there may be a sequel
coming out in '09 or '10 and since SHIELD was introduced and since
Ms. Boronova is in the organization, we may see Hilary or maybe
Milla as the Russian assassin. entertaining and well worth the money.
anyone who hasn't seen it yet, it is worth the two hours and $10 for
tickets. peace.

I saw the movie a week ago and as always I sat until after the credits and when me and my bro went to see it today he asked me there was anything after the credits, I said "oh yea" . So we sat and waited, while we waited he told me his idea for introducing the Avengers, the credits ended and the Nick Fury scene played, should have seen the look on his face, it was pretty much what he had just said word for word, except in his version it was the end of the Thor movie.

just thought I share that

Oh we both agree the movie ROCKED

Finaly I saw Iron Man.
And all I have to say is I'm not disapointed, this was one of the best superhero movies i've seen in a long time, and believe me I've seen probably almost all of them...

Downey is Tony Stark, the guy convinced me and I hope they keep him for the sequel.

People have said lots of things about this movie here about what they liked, but to me one thing I liked was that at the end of the movie Stark admitted he is Iron Man because that was one of the things I never understanded in the early comics, Why such an arrogant asshole like Stark would let people think the he only created the armour?

This movie is in my top ten best superheroes ever made!

Now...Go see it...You wont regret it...

just watched it last night and really enjoyed it. I didn't have high expectations of Downey in the role, but he did very well. I look forward to another one in 2 years.

Funny thing, we got in the car, and Iron Man started playing on the radio.

This really has nothing at all to do with the movie... I just didn't feel like starting another Iron Man thread.... SOOOOOO....

This dude totally nailed Tony Stark with his custom action figure.

He does some really kick a$$ custom iron man figures as well... Check it out <--- that means click here...
