Heromorph + C2F team competition rules

Well here are The Rules (for the competition, I'm not referring to the book also called 'The Rules' that teaches desperate women how to get a husband):

Artists must register their interest to Juvenile Mike for C2F members or Furious Max for Heromorph members by July 7th and let them know your email address (PM your email to me guys).

Teams of 1 Heromorph member and 1 C2F member will be randomly decided by fate (supervised by Max and Mike). Each artist will be sent their team-mate's email address on July 8th.

It is the responsibility of each artist to contact their team-mate and choose a 2 character base pic together. If you can't agree we suggest watching Sesame Street.

The last day for posting finished artwork is August 8th.
Teams enter their image by the C2F artist posting the image at C2F and the Heromorph artist posting the image at Heromorph on or before the deadline.

Voting will be done at the Heromorph site by way of a poll on the front page. Voting starts on August 9 and will stay open through August 21st.

The general theme is cooperation or rivalry but, like taking a shower, is not mandatory (please shower during the competition).

Anyone can vote. Voters can vote based on any criteria they want (including, but not limited to, closing your eyes and pointing).

Adult pics (involving nudity or adult themes) are permitted but must be posted in an adult gallery. Roswell Porn and farting manips are not allowed... because Furious Max said so and he is having trouble sleeping.

Large cash prizes will not be given to the winners - mostly because Max blew all the large cash buying a container of miniature basketballs. But also because we can't prevent dishonest people from making multiple votes. However if anyone wants to donate cheap prizes for the winning team and ship them (possibly internationally) it would be welcome.

There's no small print because the rules are pretty basic and there are no judges. No correspondence will be entered into (unless you're a really hot chick).

Max - anyone want to buy a miniature basketball?

P.S. Can any of the moderators let me know if they can commit to setting up and closing the poll? Thanks.

That is the rub isn't it?

Just so ya'll know, I thinks' its a swell idea, results and voting be damned. I'm in it for the fun of it.

And I'm sure the misappropriated prize money went to a good cause.. like hot babes playing miniature basketball in miniature bikinis at the wrap party right? ....right?

Sliiiight problem. The database hiccup or restore or whatever that happened last month killed the polls module.
I will see if we can get it working by then, but I make no promises. Until then, you may want to look into a free online alternative.

Considering all of the Yahoo sites that have popped up recently, I would imagine it would be trivial to set up a poll at one of those sites, and post a link here. Black Alchemy, could your first site do it?

Hey Max, Thanks for stepping up to the plate and keeping this idea going.

I am in of course,

Because the polls here are broken, we can alway use the rating system that is on every single picture in the gallery.

Max, I dont think that we can have adult pictures in this particular competition because The DCG over at C2F is a family site, so it would not get posted over there if it was an adult picture. Other then that it looks great.

Just let me know how my partner is, You can find my e-mail address in my profile, but make sure you put C2f Or Heromorph in the subject line or I will probably erase it with out looking at it.

The following are deemed to be 'in' because they said they wanted to be in and have an email in their profile...
Dark Knight
Matrixblur
Flux
Divine Monkey
Brick
Aharmona
Winterhawk
Tazman

Batmic, Bad Dog and Bikerbot (who would have thunk it? TroubleBot has no email) I'm still waiting on your emails, plus anyone else who wants to take part.
I know we've got more artists out there, do I have to name you? Don't worry about skill level - you could pick up some great tips and learn a lot from your team-mate.

Oh and Furious Max I need your email too (deadbeat).

Max - any resemblance to the road warrior is purely coincidental.

Looks like some of our C2F counterparts have some issues with RL infringing on their hobbies (don't we all).
So... HURRY HURRY SIGN UP NOW!! OMG!!.

No, seriously. sign up, its O.K. This _is_ going to happen... eventually. As much as we would like to accommodate everybody's schedule , perhaps we could start passing that hat around for those who have chimed in already?

That way us joiners get an unfair advantage.
Sounds fair no?

Hey everyone,
I was just over at the c2f boards, and so far the turn out over there is not as good as ours.
Most of the guys over there are a little worried about the deadline and they don't think they have enough time.

So far it looks like they have 9.
Juvenilemike
B
android
MilleniumBum
kev_incal
dperceful
MysticMorgan
Shaylinn
Jedi Master Khalel (no e-mail address, posted)

And we have 12.
FuriousMax
Dark Knight
Matrixblur
Flux
Divine Monkey
Brick
Aharmona
Winterhawk
Tazman
Troublebot
Batmic (no e-mail, given to Max)
Bad Dog (no e-mail, given to Max)

What happens if our numbers don't match up and we outnumber them, who gets the cut, or do we instead make a couple teams of three. Also considering they all seem to want a little extra of a time frame, I think, in the spirit of co-operation we should probably extend it a bit.
So Mildly-perturbed-Max, What's Up???

Hey,

Well, because of the missing emails it's 8:10, which is pretty close. If there are any extra members they will be randomly paired with someone from the same site, it's a team competition so I don't think that will bother anybody.

I not in favour of an extended deadline as we could be waiting around for months while some get their act together and in the meantime others will lose interest. I think it's more an opportunity for slower artists to discover faster ways of doing things.

Also it will require more organisation and I will have to hand that to someone else as I can't commit to an extended project (got to take care of girlfriends and all that).
Of course it's up to the majority opinion/consensus/muscles.

Max - like democracy in action, only better.

Hard and fast rules don't seem to be sticking that well, and why should they? Its a grand experiment to begin with.

12 vs. 9 is not a huge deficit to overcome, In fact its a _pretty good turnout_ first time out of the box. Lets just skate with who we have. Lets keep the deadline open until we get the ball rolling, at least that way we can still play the game and the given momentum will give our fearless leaders a better estimate of the finnish line.

Once a deadline is decided, anybody who joins late is not uninvited, just late.

Howzat sound?

Hey Brick, The deadlines are set already.
July 7 for sign up
Find out your teammate on July 8
Post artwork on August 8

A few of the fine folk at c2f, would like to see the Aug 8 deadline set a little further down the road.

I didn't say c2f had a bad turn out, just not as good as ours.

But I say lets get on with it, if the guys there are worried about time, Lets start now. Give them an extra 2 weeks to work on their pictures.

O never mind, I will just sit back, and wait.

Someone wake me when we are ready to start.

Hey WH, your C2F now... wanna team up?

OK OK.. I can wait till July 8th for my official partner.

Lets just keep it fun fella's.
We all agree thats the point.

i don't think anyone's concern at C2F is the quality of artwork, i think it's more the personal time into the project. one month to do a manip, why rush it....you have many things to take into consideration.....how fast does your partner work, what's his/her workflow, overall design concept, image search, mowing the lawn, splinter cell pandora multiplayer, adult swim.....lot's of stuff to take into consideration.

i think it really boils down to disapponting your partner. i'm afraid that i might not get the work done in time and let my fellow manipper down.

As another C2Fer that was moaning about the deadline, I oughta say that I'm worried for the very specific reason that I'll be out of town for a few weeks until August 5 -- just before the deadline! That gives me about 2.5 weeks to talk with my partner, decide on a subject, and do my half of the manip, but probably leaves my partner having to pick up the slack for me in terms of putting the final piece together. I still want to participate, cause it's a great idea, and I <i>think</i> I'll be able to get it done in time... but I don't know that I will and, as Dan said, I'd hate to disappoint my partner. And though I'm probably be the only one with this specific problem, I think a lot of people (on our side, anyway!) would be more comfortabe with a longer deadline, if only by a week or two. Some people work slower than others, after all... and I firmly believe you should never rush art.

So... I'll go along with whatever the Gods (aka Max and Mike) decide, but there's my two cents.

Cheers, all.

Right, the deadline isn't moving. The deadline is as dead as Dubyah Bush's brain function.

Mike and I sorted dates ourselves because there was very little input from anyone else at the time...I am sure there will be another round - make sure you make your wants known to whoever organises it (personally I want more complimentary grapes).

As brick keeps (rightfully, damn him) reminding us this is meant to be fun. We don't want to see masterpieces - we want to see people having fun! No one will let anyone down as long as you had fun. Now have fun or I will start slapping people!!!

The reason for this competition was to bring together two groups that often didn't get along. This will work better if we see the results sooner rather than months from now.

Now that democracy has been thrust upon you all I would like to ask where all the other Heromorphers are?
Batmic and Baddog emails please.

And there are a whole lot of others I want to see signing up, some names that come to mind are MissVee, Button, Kallisti, Billy, PM Jazz, Jedifan, Bloody Kat, Angelophile, SirBlabalot... the list is endless (and apparently I am meant to be working today).

Max - just pretend I wrote something really inspiring here.

i appreciate being mentioned, but i fear i'll have my hands full with the July Heromorph challenge... although i do think it would be cool to team up with another manipper....

speaking of ms. vee, has anyone seen her lately? she's in danger of getting her artwork bumped into the dead artists' gallery...
