Also, most teens, especially the sidekicks, are stupid, inept and generally make a really big mess of things before everything gets accidentally solved nicely and neatly in the end. For some reason, noone thinks kids can be effective superheroes without an insane amount of luck. Except for some recent ones, none of them really have a whole lot of skill.

Bartman from Bongo Comics is quite capable on his own. He hasn't hit his teens yet, but is well above sidekick level.

Another Stereotype is that when a characters parents are their primary motivation, the attention focuses almost entirely upon their father.

Re: Stereotypes in comic books
One of the all time stereotypes everyone here missed is that almost all super-heroines are hot. Regardless of age. Te men too. Their just ain't no real call for ugly heroes. with few exceptions. such as bouncing boy? (not sure about that name) Deadpool, (but he'll start out handsome) How a bout they're just average looking? Nope Sex sells and comics are hurting make no mistake. Stereotypes rule the industry because of how reliably they make comics sell. They are simple mathematical equations in an industry that needs revenue. And as long as we keep buying the comics they will keep packaging them the way they think we like after all if we had a problem with it we'd say something to THEM right?

Is it a stereotype that all super villians are uber-wealthy and do not have to work. While super heroes have to work to make a living? OK, maybe only a few superheroes... but villians have all the fun!
