Majel Lee Hudec (born 23 February 1932), better known as Majel Barrett or Majel Barrett-Roddenberry, died today, 18 Dec 2008. She had leukemia.

For thos of us who first encountered science-fiction through 'Star Trek', this passing will be of great sorrow. Even those who were into S-F before '"Star Trek" ( me, for example ) acknowlege the contribution Her and Her husband, Gene Roddenberry, made to the scene.

She will be greatly missed...

A sad day indeed.

She was the original 'Number 1" in the first STAR TREK pilot.
She then became 'Nurse Chapel'
later she was best known as "the Voice of the Computer" on the Enterprise.
