If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, than Frazetta was proof of that... his work has spawned countless imitators yet none surpass the original. Frazetta's certainly best known for that pulp hero neo-classical oil painting style he perfected but was equally masterful at humor, romance, comics and their covers and had a much greater range than most folks realize. He will be sorely missed.

It is funny you should mention that. I literally just introduced a very good friend of mine to Frazetta's artwork AND the world of Conan the day before he died. I suppose when an artist moves you in a certain way it's possible to develop a special bond with said artist that transcends the physical world and enters one of emotion. It was the same with Michael Turner for me. The day he died was a very sad day for me, and I couldn't place my finger on why. It was the next day that I read online that Turner had died.

Rest in peace, mr. Frazetta. Your artwork has inspired many great artists and touched many people's souls. You will be greatly missed.

Corben is still alive at 70 and has been working. He did some great Hellboy stuff recently.

The great Frank Frazzetta has passed away.
We'll never see his like again.
We all shall mourn these upcoming days,
In memory of our hero, inspiration and legend.

Rest in Peace, Frank.
