I've finally talked the wife into letting me get a tablet PC and found a Motion Computing LE1600 at a good price. Its a slate style (no keyboard) w/ a 256 pressure sensitive wacom digitizer.

Anyone using something like this? Does it work ok w/ photoshop? Any info would be appreciated.

Nah haven't bought it yet JR but like the sound of your statement though. I know the one I'm ordering won't replace my desktop PC and I really don't need it to. It's only single core integrated graphics and all, but I wanna be able to "draw" on the picture I'm working on.

I am tired of using a mouse and the wacom tablets are like trying to draw on a paper and see it on a wall. Wacom makes a tablet that is like a tablet PC but its overly expensive and to many cables for me. I'm hoping the Motion slate is what I'm looking for I've been to alot of tablet pc sights and they seem to be used by alot of artists sooo....

How long have you been using your tablet? I felt odd for the first few days when I started using it, but now it feels totally normal. Only real advice is to give it a test-drive before you buy.

You use a wacom or other tablet Chilly? I tried and tried but couldn't get used to it. The way were you are on the tablet to the way it relates to where you are on the screen was just a big turn-off for me. Albeit I don't have a true Wacon tablet I still don't care for it.

I was hoping someone here had some experience with any kind of tablet convertible or slate. The deal I'm getting is hard to pass up $499 for a machine that was $1999-2100 when it first came out is just to good to pass up.

The only reservation I have is I've seen pics of it up against a older Fujitsu one and the screen brightness on the Fujitsu is ALOT better.

So, thanks to this thread I've been looking around.

When I first saw the Cintiq. I was all and figured it's a pipe dream. Hub mentioned Fujitsu and when I looked it up, I saw a laptop with a swivel monitor. The price seems to be half what Wacom wants. Beyond that, I know nothing and am curious.

Well I took the plunge and finally ordered my tablet got this:

Off E-bay refurbished for $425 bumping memory up to 2GB and got a cross pen type stylus. I'll let you guys know how it works when I get it.

... i've been using my trusty Wacom for a little while now, upgrading them for newer models over the past year and have a CTE-440 at the moment, only problem is i swear Vista is interfering with the drivers as the damn thing wont reconise it..... is anyone else getting this problem with their Wacom? or is it just me being a total girl??

I don't know wacom never was able to afford what I wanted from them size wise but I do know Vista and there should be a compatibility list somewhere for drivers maybe check wacom.com. I'll post if I find any. What tablet do you have (ie..intuis2, graphire)?

i am running vista on mac intel... :D
with a wacom table, no problems here.
