Recently, I did something I haven't done in a while.... that's right, I bought some comics. it was a nice stack of more recent Marvel and DC titles and after reading through them I was left with questions... Mainly... Wtf? The Hulk/ Banner bald and now Banner is insane while Hulk is the dominant form and the Hulk is more intelligent than he's ever been... Wtf? Deadpool is a blonde haired white boy, wait... Didn't he used to be a crispy, deep-fried black guy....wtf? Amazing, Astonishing, Spectacular, Avenging, Scarlet, Black, White, Chicano... How many damned Spider-men are there...wtf? The first Lantern wasn't the guy that came out, but a guy that was locked up because he was too dangerous...wtf? Venom is now a mercenary Punisher type...wtf??

I'm so frickin' confused man!!! Make it stop! Seriously, why the Hell are they screwing with classic characters like that? Just....WTF? ESPECIALLY YOU MARVEL... Just...just....WTF????

Somewhere........... off in the back, all quiet like. Rod Serling just slipped out the back door.....

All in all, I spent $75 on this rubbish and I find myself considering what else I could've spent that money on...
..a trip to the movies for me and the kids with concessions included and money left over
..an hour with one of the local "working girls" with money left over, about 58 minutes too much
..a small collection of new CDs or DVDs
..roughly 2 tanks of gasoline in my gas guzzling SUV
.. 2 game cards for WoW (that's 4 months of play)
..that sweet B.C. Rich Warlock I saw on eBay
..some new art supplies
.. a couple bottles of Kentucky's finest bourbon

The point is l, would have gotten far more enjoyment out of that $75 with any of those and been far less ready to rant about confusing comics.

That is why I am waiting for the Avengers vs X-Men arc is over. Marvel is hitting the reset button on a lot of titles. So I figured I will get in on the ground level since I missed out on the New 52 Reboot.

I have in my computer 2 years of comics (marvel and DC) that I haven't read ...I need to start reading them because I want to know what this new 52 is all about (I know is a reboot)...and I want to see what Dark is talking about

I hate what Marvel and DC have done to comics in the US... This is what you get when the blurry line between art and commerce becomes a clearly delineated line of products.

But, but... all those random changes help make comics more accessible to new readers! It says so right here in my official Big Two Propaganda Guide!

I haven't been keeping up much lately either... got months of backlog on Marvel and have basically stopped buying DC now due to lack of interest and dislike of their creative direction. There is definitely some pretty good stuff in the New 52, worth checking out... even if I personally just don't care anymore.

Well, y'see now. I was a lil kid when I was ranting once about them thar idiot writerz all writin trash after trash. And my dad once said "You have to wade through A LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT of shit, to find the good stuff." So after Jim Lee left Xmen. I followed. Then I got in the military and didn't have time for nobody's nothing. And so now I just randomly wait for a trade paper back and then start asking people's opinions on whatever tpb caught my eye.

Are just a few of the issue one titles coming out as "Marvel Now"

I collected comics for over thirty years and have seen many changes some good some bad some truly horrible. The current crap..crop of comics coming out of both DC and Marvel have made me cut down my comic collecting from over 60 comics a month to 3. I've tried reading some of the current titles and I just don't like what I've read. Probably because most of the characters I grew up with and knew are now strangers to me. The New 52 sucks. I wish the Anti-Monitor would return and just destroy that universe. And Marvel now will be nothing new but probably MORE depressive stories about how one of Marvel's oldest and beloved characters is either Dead/ Gay/ Never existed/ or is actually a supervillain. I see a lot of mega-talented folks here at Heromorph that I bet could probably create better comics with far more respect to their own characters than what Marvel and DC have done in years.

I can't really blame them from a marketing point of view. With the current comics being in the triple digits, it is hard for new people to get hooked on a comic series when there are so may tangent off shoots and alternate universes that it is hard for some one just jumping on the band wagon to follow instead of catching it from the beginning.

Like a Soap Opera, they can only recycle A lover in a Coma, an Evil twin, Siblings falling in love only to find out they were separated at birth , a character that dies and comes back to life. Brainwashing and Amnesia.

Ok ok. So somewhere along the line your age starts to show through and those of you with sort of somewhere near half a conscious start to think about all those old bastards that were collecting like 40 years before you were a kid.

So case #1. Just because it was my first official "I'm fucking hooked on comics and everyone can kiss my ass"........ Captain Atom. Over the years I've heard some shit about DC buying him from Charleston comics. And having his story completely done over. So how did those old bastards feel about that? Because I'm pretty damn sure YOU are going thru the same shit now.

.... My personal thought. What they did to him for his overhaul kicked ass.

Case #2. Xmen.... Seriously, they could show a fossilized turd that somehow was let out my Galactus' father and the world would buy it and love it. In other words, Xmen can do no wrong.

Case C. Can you actually name how many times Superman, Jean Grey, Professor Xavier, and Captain America have died....... without looking it up? And which death do you actually get bothered about?

I mean seriously folks, the last Marvel game I played said the yellow and brown Wolverine was the "classic suit" and the yellow and blue/black was the new? Did anyone bother to look at the cover of his first appearance?

So long story short. Trade Paperbacks.... fuck all the rest.
