yeah in this case i think less would have been more. this could have been a lot better the girl herself is beautiful but those petals cast across her body really bring this down and coupla notches. not only are the edges visible but the pixels around each petal makes it look like she's got sores where it crosses her skin. i kinda get the impression that you rushed this.

yeah i just couldnt come up with a way to soften the edge without screwing the effect up

Here is what I am talking about. Here is your petal layers, excluding the slight warping of the image. Here are the edges I see in the image.

Great job although I agree with DW that the top layer of petals need to be softened and blurred like the ones in bg. Well done!

I would rework the petal layers to remove the hard edge they produce on the image.
