Another find from the archives. Heromorph's premier horror comic from the 1970's, recently found on Ebay.

I've always been a big fan of Berni (or Bernie) Wrightson's brush style, so I thought I'd take a break from the super heroines and start brushing. We seem to have a dearth of horror comics around here, sooo...

The masthead was all hand lettered. The style, the coloring, and the graphics are a throwback to the era of DC's flagship horror comic "The House of Mystery", from the '70's. http://www.coverbrowser.com/covers/house-of-mystery/5 .  Judging by this cover, HM wasn't shelling out much money for writers at the time.

This piece is dedicated to Mr. OCP, and his former management at the hostel pension.

Man! this is so good it's not even funny. It's just like I was looking at an old time 'House of Secrets' cover.

This reminds me not only of the DC series but of the Warren B&W comics. For the DC colour series you have the lighting and the limited colours of black, gray, blue , purple, pale yellow, etc. The figure in the foreground is wearing a classic night-cap (can you even buy them anymore?).

Fantastic drawing. I'm in awe, Mr. C. Not only the drawing is great, you managed to recreate that special mood of old times!

This is a unique pic. I don't remember seeing something like that around here. Bravo.

Oh man, this is KILLER!! I really, really love this one! I am a big fan of those old DC horror comics and Berni Wrightson in particular! You've really done a beautiful job with this, great brushwork, authentic style and a healthy dash of funny too! Bravo, Co!

You captured the real essence of the genre. Great job and an amusing concept with the 3 Stooges!

Thanks for the encouragement, guys. Working alone with no feedback, I was beginning to think this piece was so bad that it might actually warrant a whole new HM category: The Shredder.

I love this one, co.

Very well done, Bernie Wrightson is one of my favourite artists and you really did a homage to his style here.
