No, NOT THAT Daredevil...
the ORIGINAL Daredevil, a very popular character from the 40's, from Lev Gleason Publications. It has often been  suggested that this wise cracking acrobat hero was very much the prototype not only for Marvel's early Daredevil but Spiderman as well. Not that it matters much because this Daredevil (Bart Hill) is free! That's right, this great hero and villain are public domain so anyone is free to use them in their own works, a factor which has kept this guy alive and well,  used by different publishers. Bart Hill (Daredevil) had been raised in Australian Outback by Aborigines and used his combat and acrobatic skills to fight crime. He also employed his own metal boomerangs as weapons of choice.
The villain, the Claw had been around since '39, originally the enemy of the Silver Streak (a superspeed type character), the book's title hero.  Daredevil was a back up feature however starting with Daredevil's second appearance, Plastic Man creator Jack Cole would do a 5 issue run pitting DD against the Claw in an epic battle that would cement Daredevil's continued success. Still, the character is generally more closely associated with writer/artist Charles Biro and his terrific and successful 16 year run on the book!

Indeed you were, DW. and thanks again, Star. I had considered adding a logo but rather liked it as it was although I may consider going back and adding one to see how it looks. Here's Ditko's cover here I didn't go note for note but there's no doubt his great sense of structure is what makes mine work too.

Oh my bad! didnt even see the B-rang there, but then i guess i was looking for it to be in his hand. I kinda thought this looked familiar bacause it does have that cover-feel to it. it would have been cool had you added the additional logos and such to complete the cover recreation. still. nothing less than a 10 from me.

yeah. something in the back of my mind was telling me that you were working on something spectacular and of course i was right. Nice choice on subject matter. i've always had a thing for the golden age Daredevil ever since i first saw him in Steranko's History of Comics. i know you stuff is always good, but there's something about this that reaches another level. Don't know exactly what you're using for your renders nowadays but keep it up! But really, old school Daredevil, but no boomerangs/ whatsupwithdat?

Well, that is high praise indeed! Thank you very much, Star! Actually, that big thing I'd been working on has been going terribly and this was just a break away and moment of inspiration that came together in a few days. I built Claw's cap and gown and DD'd belt ...and boomerang. Sorry, I should have made it stand out a little more, it's that shiny check shape at the end of the semitransparent white arc extending from the back of Claw's head on right side of pic. DD tended to have more square shaped boomerangs. Originally I'd just used the one I'd already created for Captain boomerang but realized my mistake. BTW, this is based on Ditko's cover to Daredevil Battles the Claw #1 (May '87) Ace Comics.

I love old school stuff! Way to go bringing this character to the attention of the modern masses!

And yes, this one IS cooler than the current Marvel version of "Daredevil." And a cooler "Claw" villain to boot!

Nicely done!
